Expensive Ignition Batteries
A numer of years ago I purchased a Burley Elan Flueless gas fire &
have been quite satisfied with the its performance.
The problem is the battery ignition pack, for most of the time I
have had my fire I bought replacements directly from Burley's
& although not cheap they were affordable.
Now when I needed a new set Burley's told me they now sell
only to the trade, after making enquiries I found that the unit was on
sale on Amazon for almost sixty pounds the unit consists of six 7.2v
AA batteries making it almost ten pounds per AA battery. There is
"Taking a profit" & "Taking the Mickey" & I think that this falls into
the latter category.
I have always been happy with Burley's service up until now,& looking on
their site my Elan fire seems to be the predecessor to the new Acumen model
so I advise anyone buying an electronic ignition fire from Burley's
to ask about replacement batteries before they purchase as there is no
mention of the cost on their site.
Hope this may save you some money

I have had my fire for a number of years now but when I bought it I had a few problems e.g. they sent me the front for the electric version of the fire that left a gap at the bottom it was only after a few hours trying to fit it that I phoned them with the part number that they realised their mistake.
Having said that the problems I had were sorted by their after sales service promptly & without charge.
Whether a new company has taken over I I don't know but their attitude now seems to be " You bought it You sort it".At the moment I am juggling the two battery packs I have one in use the other on charge, although this is working at the moment the pilot light has to be ignited with a gas lighter even though we have replaced the pizzo .Nonce again no help from Burley.
Hope you can get your battery pack sorted.

I'm having the same problem with my Burley Environ gas fire. The battery pack that came with the fire lasted about 4 years and recharged easily but 4 months ago it died and I had a huge problem trying to buy a new one. Burley sent me to Cell Pack Solutions and for 18 GBP I bought replacement batteries only to find out that they won't recharge! When I phoned the sales person told me that either I have a bad battery in my pack or they may be polarized and I'd have to swap the connections? He said this is a problem with some Burley gas fires - some being polarized and some not! So how to change it is now the challenge. Also he didn't offer to replace the pack. Regards, E. Hernly.
Q&A
Got a 4240 model that has stopped working. It is not the ignition it appears to be the mechanism. The ignition button that releases the gas will not come in and out to release the gas to start the fire. Any suggestions?
