Breville JK78 with Brushed Stainless Steel Illuminator

I am pleased with it although it is rather loud, at least you know when it has finished because you're supposed to pour the water on the tea bag within a minute to make a great cuppa! Has been very reliable, blue light still works after 3 years and it boils quickly. Parts are available just call 0800525089. I just broke the filter doing a descale and it will cost under a fiver to replace rather than buying a new one as it matches my toaster.

It's okay, does what it's supposed to, but it's so noisey. I mean really loud. It blocks out the sound of the TV in the lounge!

Purchased on price and look. Still works after 3 years however the 'pretty' blue light lasted about 4 months. Nearly got thrown away as the auto boil off decided to stop working for a couple of weeks. It then (and still does) started working again. Look at it as a basic kettle with no illumination (it will fail) It is grossly overpriced.

Nice to look at and quick to boil but very noisy and takes a long time to auto switch off when reached the boil.

Lasted less than a year.

The auto switch off upon boiling has always been slow to activate wasting energy. Now, after exactly 12 months of ownership it switches off well before boiling point is reached. Would not recommend on this basis.

Kettle very satisfactory except for illumination lights. Good points Style & Colour with illumination. Bad points illumination lights ceased to work after two or three months.

I've been married for nearly 45 years and have only purchased 5 kettles in that time so obviously the previous 4 lasted much much longer than the Breville one which only lasted for 2 years!

The Breville JK78 kettle looks and feels well made. The first thing I noticed is the handle has been ergonomically designed so it is less likely to slip in your hand. It has a window either side of the kettle, and it will sit on the power base regardless of which way you put it on, so it would be ideal for either right-handed or left-handed people.

It boils very quickly! I used to be able to stick the kettle on and pop off to do a quick chore, but no more! Turn your back for a few moments and its ready to make that well deserved cup of tea, ahh...

Another good thing is that you can remove the lid to the fill the kettle rather that it be a "flip up" style, which can be difficult to fill depending on your taps.

It looks super cool due the blue "illuminator" light shining through the window.

However, it is very noisy. So much so, that what with the cool exterior, blue neon light and noisy engine, it reminds me of a boy racer on Saturday night!
