AEG PE9038M Alu Espresso Machine & Coffee Maker

This machine is made from mostly well engineered parts but the design of the coffee making mechanism (pistons, springs and seals) is poor. I had about 1 year of relatively infrequent use before problems started. Since then the machine is unpredictable and wastes more coffee than it produces. I have had seals changed and now the piston ring seal has swelled and will not seat properly causing it to jamb the piston half way in the cylinder. This results in weak coffee and wastes 1/2 the ground coffee which has to overflow into the waste tray.

AEG's reputation?? I would not buy it unless you get a minimum 5 year warranty.

Owned my AEG PE9038M Alu Espresso Machine & Coffee Maker for 2 years 2 months, made around 60 cups of coffee. Now it is out of warranty and requires parts totalling £277.33 as suggested by a service engineer due to heat exchanger, conical springs, piston, o rings and elements. I cannot believe that such a renowned manufacturer produces such a poor quality product and charge what amounts to half the value of the machine for spare parts. I know it is out of warranty but only by 2 months and considering it has had minimal usage (60 ish) cups then I feel slightly dissapointed that AEG will not consider replacing the parts for free. Needless to say AEG make some excellent products, however this is not one of them. I will think twice and consider other manufacturers before buying an AEG appliance.

Broke after making about 30 cups of coffee.no joy from AEG. Not fit for purpose. It looks attractive but not really fit for purpose.

Extremely disappointed with this AEG PE9038M Alu Espresso Machine & Coffee Maker. If I had the choice again, I would not buy one. It was expensive and has not delivered. I would buy a stove top espresso maker instead and save yourself some money.
