Wouldn't Recommend It
This smeg SE2773TC2 hob replaced a 5 plate Kupersbusch we had fitted with the kitchen 10 years ago. We replaced the work surface recently so thought we ought to change the hob as the "hole" would be different when the Kuppersbusch finally gave up. So we bought this Smeg. Boy what a mistake. It looks good and it's easy to clean as it's touch control, no knobs like the old one. That's where the advantages stop. From day one it took ages to heat up and then once hot wouldn't cool down. It was hopeless trying to stop things burning once you had got them hot! Then joy of joys on Christmas morning whilst cooking the meal it shut itself off as it had overheated! A hob overheating for heavens sake! We had to lay damp cloths on it in an attempt to get it working again, which after about 30 mins it did.
A few weeks later when only a single plate was in use it shut itself down again. Enough was enough. The repair man simply replaced the whole electrical bit. It certainly worked better for a few weeks. But on pancake day after 20 mins use making 6 pancakes it shut itself down again as "overheating".
A good tip is buy an extended warranty if you want this hob. Glad we did!
