Hoover Is Rubbish. Had To Be Sent Away After The S
Hoover is rubbish. had to be sent away after the shaft cracked. It has started also to loose it sucking power only lifting dust if you were lucky. Filter changed and cleaned ever time being used. Have given up on this hoover than less than year. Only used for light house hold dust and hair used on average twice a week. Very disappointed with never buy Vax again.

I Have Owned This Hoover For About 3 Years, And Wa
I have owned this hoover for about 3 years, and was initially very pleased with it as it had very good suction and managed to pick up a lot of dirt including dog hair. However over the last 4-6 months the suction has almost gone completely, despite cleaning the filters and emptying it regularly. It does take up as much room as an upright hoover but is very easy to use. If you are willing to buy a new cleaner every 3 years then i would recommend it as it did work well for just over 2 years, however if you want value for money and expect it to last longer than 3 years tehn i wouldn't bother buying it again.

So Many Problems With This Machine And All Vax Cle
So many problems with this machine and all Vax cleaners we have had, unfortuately bought two vax cleaners in the family at the same time and both have had same problems, loss of suction, back grill keep blowing off.
Customer services terrible, will just have to bin both machines as it doesnt do the job.
Do not buy VAX at any cost
Did you really have one of these? The dust cover blowing off only releases the post motor filter, dust in the machine stays there, the post motor filter is more for hepa filter classification.
The machine can be used without it and the rear cover, however there is a fix for the cover blowing off, ask Google.
I agree dust filter blows off every two minutes blowing dust everywhere . It's terrible don't buy it at any cost .

I Purchased This As I Wanted A Reliable Vacuum Cle
I purchased this as I wanted a reliable vacuum cleaner and friends having had issues with Dyson's I decide Vax was a good, reliable brand that had been around for some time.
Just 14 months old (and 2 months out of warranty) the motor has packed up and it no longer works. It should last more than a year! Dissapointed and will never buy another VAX product again!
I think you made an error, the VZL-702 has a 24month warantee, so its still covered, talk to vax.
Also the motor has an automatic thermal cut-out, have you checked it did'nt just get too hot & works again after cooling?

Very Dissappointed With This Hoover. You Have To
Very dissappointed with this hoover. You have to keep changing the brush to hoover either carpet or hard floor, which is a real nuisance. The suctions power is hopeless. It is very fiddly to empty the dust container and not easily replaced. The post motor cover keeps blowing off and is held on by selotape! Apparantly, the filter kit to buy is nearly £19.00!
If I had known that you had to keep changing brushes, I would not have bought this machine.
Not helpful as its basically wrong, must be looking at another hover, all that have used mine have been amazed at the suction & no need to change brush!! Filter only comes off when wet!

Summary: This Is A Cylinder Bagless Cyclonic
Summary:
This is a cylinder bagless cyclonic action vacuum cleaner with flexible hose, extending metal tube & five tools including a turbobrush & turbotool.
I bought this after my old cleaner finally packed up, plus I liked the idea of a cyclonic action one without the high price of a Dyson. I bought from Tesco as they had it at half price, (£75) though I wonder if there was a bit of deception on their part here, as a net search revealed average price of £80, plus VAX price of £100, so how Tesco got a full price of £150 is anyones guess.
Operation:
The cleaner works well though it seemed clear to me that it did loose some suction after a few uses, though much less than other types, so I'd dispute their claim of 'no loss of suction'. The turbbrushes work by using the air flow to rotate the brushes, this does work well and the cleaner certainly removes more lint off my kitchen carpet than my old hoover ever did. There are two controls on the machine, on/off on the left & cord rewind on the right, these are OK but seem the wrong way round to me.
Dirt Removal:
The dust chamber does need emptying more often than my old unit, and its quite a messy process as you have to take the chamber apart then remove a bung to empty the inner section. There are a series of filters which the instructions say can be washed when dirty, though things are far from clear here, as the booklet says they can both be washed, but there actually three, there are two pre-motor filters & a note on the machine indicates you should only wash the first one!! The box claims as the filters are washable you should never need to replace them, but it seems to me that they would need to be replaced at some point, however I cannot find any source for replacements.
Storage:
There is some tool storage, though nothing in the instructions about it. The brushes & crevice tool store in the hose & there is a clip for the turbobrush on the main unit, so the tube can then slot into the brush in its place, there is no storage for the remaining two tools and I would say the whole unit takes more space than an upright, so beware if space is limited.
Instructions:
The instructions are poor and incomplete to say the least, I suspect they are a generic set, & vax couldn't be bothered to update for this model.
Conclusion:
Overall the unit works well, but I suspect there could be trouble if I ever need spares, Vax only have an expensive 0870 number for contact, so recommended but with caution.
VAX VZL-702 Post motor filter popping solution.
Having not cleaned the filters for too long especially after the builders!! I had the issue of the post motor filter popping off, I found a simple solution to stop this, prior to cleaning the filter (as a more long term one).
The post motor filter cover is slotted in at the top then clicked in below, to ensure it locks in place its then pushed down, when the filter is clogged it pushes on the cover moving it back up, allowing it to pop off. Simply taking a small piece of card & placing that in the gap at the top of the cover that appears when the cover is slid down prevents the cover being pushed back up, so ensuring it can't pop off.
Of course cleaning the filter a couple of times a year will avoid this issue anyway, though its something easily forgot!!
As an update after another 2 years of use.
It still works fine & filters only need washing rarely, you can wash all, I've had no need to replace. Suction is still good & has not dropped any further from initial drop.
If you don't fully dry the filters after washing the post motor one will pop off till it is dry.
A number of people have borrowed my Vax & all say they were very impressed.
I should make it clear this is a review of the VAX VZL-702U, I believe the extra U means additional tools, its red in colour not blue & it has the word ultima printed on the side of the casing.
I did originally put VZL-702U but someone has removed the letter U from my review!!
