Just do not bother. I cannot wait to buy my new one. It is heavy and useless at getting the correct height adjustment to different carpet heights. Bits are either left on the floor or the hoover becomes too heavy to move.

Really heavy to move up and down stairs. I have hated it. Just dont do it.

This has a basic design flaw: it's design.

Firslty: I've had to change belts, a number of times, beacuse there is no automatic / safety cut-off. If you accidentily suck up a large object and it gets trapped in the brushes, the belt snaps. To get a Vax engineer out to change these belts is impractical, and the way the whole brush mechanism is designed so poorly, with very little foresight, that it is a fiddly job.

Secondly: Which brainic decided that an 'Upright cleaner' was practical? Easy to use? Easy to store? Manoeverable? This thing is useless on stairs. Try carrying 14kg of unweildy, oddly shaped plastic up the stairs with you while you're trying to get into the corners.

I can't wait to get a new vacumn cleaner - I'll be giving this one a thorough kicking when I take it to the tip - the sad thing is it is only about 14 months old- my old Electrolux was nearly 13 YEARS old when she died.

NEVER buy a VAX product, if aftersales service is what you want.

Vax Turboforce V-006 is great value for undeR £10 we have been delighted with the overall performance in any configurarion of work , cleaning / replacing filters is the secret to any vacuum to obtain max. performance and long life.

It's a beast of a hoover the best I've ever had, although it is quite heavy I'd not recommend it to the elderly for that reason but it is power full, working on the whole "dyson" "bag less" design that seems to be the rule of thumb these days it is very difficult to imagine a hoover that would do a better job of sucking all the dust up from the very root of the carpet, although its my first hoover to work on this kind of principle I've nothing to compare it to that is the same but it's miles ahead of the normal bag type and you can tell that when hoovering carpet with the amount you catch in the handy see through container. Although I've seen new dyson Hoovers with a ball instead of wheels and knowing the weight in the hoover and force involved in turning mine I can see why that would be a good idea as you kind of have to force it in the direct left or right with alot of wrist force when manoeuvring it! Its quite a loud hoover but it dose not bother me and again I'm not sure what the industry standard in that department would be but does seem louder than Hoover's with bags. I'd suggest that if it is a concern try it out in the shop first if you can. Had mine about 2 years and never had any problems. You are meant to replace the "HEPA" filter every so often but never had trouble getting one of them either! Works on either hard floor or carpet and the hose can reach up the stairs in my house meaning you don't have to lift it or set it on the stairs. A good buy at £90 if you want something that will last but not cost a lot compared to the alternatives.
