The Mach Zen, when it is working, is an excellent machine, problem is that it comes with a Six Year Guarantee!

Whilst this guarantee is not supposed to affect your statutary rights it requires you to deal with Vax, notthe shop it was bought from.

That is when your problems start!

Vax Customer Care is an 0844 number and must be under staffed, callers will invariably find themselves queuing behind twenty or more people.

The contact form on their website carries a warning that they experience problems with it, so do not expect any prompt response.

Emails are dealt with by an automated handling system so you may well only get an error message by way of reply.

At first sight the guarantee seems to good to be true and it probably is!

In my experience Vax will do anything to get out of honouring it, blaming faults on alleged misuse if they cannot be attributed to damage or wear and tear.

My Vax Vacuum Cleaner (C91-Mach 3, 6 year Guarantee) is hardly a year old, used in small 2-bed flat used for Single person. So not heavy use and I had 2 issues with it already. Now it is dead totally.

Wrote to Vax via their Web site, over 3 days continuously Monday-Wednesday and NO ONE bothered to reply. Called 0844 number, they answered after 30 minutes and took another 30 minutes to offer a stupid solution plus they claimed their IT systems were down, hence lack of response! Even wrote to Complaints section and still NO RESPONSE. What is my 6 year Guarantee worth?

I will never ever buy a Vax again. Pathetic. Pay a bit more and go back to my Dyson.

Vax C91-MZ-B Mach Zen

This vacuum is great, does exactly what it should, powerful suction, very quiet, easy to use. Bagless so it won't need lots of bags, cylinder so no annoying rubber bands to snap either which I hate in most uprights. I've cleaned carpets, lino, wooden floors and stone floors with it, all done without a problem. It's sucked up normal household floor muck, wood shavings, pet hairs, cereal (after the baby knocked a box over) and even some spilt cat litter. No problems with any substance or floor type.

Obviously the quietness of this vacuum is its prime selling point though it is VERY quiet, I doubt there is a quieter one on the market today.

Positive points.

Quiet enough to use without waking a baby in the same room.

Very good suction.

Bagless and easy to empty.

Seems to hold quite a bit of muck before full.

Easy to use.

Negatives.

Its quite big but not cripplingly so.

There isn't much to write negative points about.
