Shark Hv300 Stick Vacuum Cleaner
Having had a Panasonic upright and a Miele cylinder, both of which have diminished in performance over the years - a bit like me! - I researched a range of corded and cordless replacements. Consistently positive reviews brought me to the new 'stick' style models. Now which one? Again, narrowing the search down to corded rather than cordless - old school 'mains-beats-battery-powered-every-time' - the clear winner appeared to be the Shark Stick Corded HV300. Yesterday, I took delivery of the cleaner directly from Shark within 3 business days of ordering. There appeared to be no Amazon or other online sites at a cheaper price than £129.99. Well packaged and easy to 'click' assemble, I was ready to go in under 5 minutes. The Shark also comes with a range of attachments for every conceivable cleaning purpose. I immediately tried it out on what I thought was my relatively 'clean' carpet. Lightweight and very easy to manoeuvre with a two-speed handle control, the Shark 'swam' around the floor with absolute ease. Suction is very powerful to say the least. However, the major selling point of this cleaner was delivered in the dust container. In just a few strokes, the Shark had drawn up loads of previously overlooked Shake N Vac, unseen hairs and other yeuky residue over which I had clearly been walking, often barefoot, for some considerable time. One minor grump is that the dust container is a little fiddly to empty whilst holding the head of the cleaner but sheer cleaning performance far outweighs that feature by a mile. My carpet actually looks cleaner in the areas I have vacuumed. A major furniture shuffle over the weekend will let me loose on the rest of the carpets. I am a convert. No more lugging around a rather heavy Panasonic or a weighty Miele. Look out carpets - a Shark is coming for you!
