Should Read: Cat & Dog (except Certain Carpets And Fluffy Dogs)

Miele S7260 Cat & Dog Upright vacuum – NOT fit for purpose.

Expected great things from this cleaner based on Which report and other reviews but it fails to pick up my dogs malting hair. Purchased from Currys online on 27th February 2011 so started using it early March. Initially it seemed very good with loads of suction and cleaning out deep down grit. However, when my fine haired border collie started to malt I noticed the machine would not pick up the hair at all well. Pushing forward seems to collect the hair, pulling back and you can see a cleaner area but when pushed forward again a line of black hair is left behind. If I pull back over the line it just moves further back, changing direction doesn't help as every time the vac is pulled back a line of hair remains when its pushed forward again. It takes five to ten passes over the same area until the black hair is almost all gone, but even then it involves changing direction several times; awkward with a heavy machine.

Asked Miele if this was normal and they immediately asked for the machine back to examine. I sent the vac back with an explanation of my problem saying I had tried new a bag and filter with no improvement. I explained I was sending the vac back with a full bag so they could see the hair themselves. Received vac back a week later with an invoice for £86 for them changing the bag and filter. Unfortunately the vac moves the dog hair around as before.

Contacted Miele and they agreed to waive the charge (under a technicality not for a poor vacuum) and they suggested perhaps it was my carpet or dog hair!

Now I am stuck with a heavy machine that does not do what it said on the box, should have read “Cat & Dog vacuum (except certain carpets and fine, fluffy dog hair).

Be Warned.
