Miele Cylinder S571

What can you say about a vacuum cleaner really? This one worked fine. We thought we were buying a well made quality product, but we were wrong.

Miele is not a cheap brand but this machine was not built to last. The lid broke within a few months because of cheap plastic and a poor hinge arrangement. The motor began to grind to a halt after 3 years and we had to throw it away because a repair would have been uneconomical.

Add to this the high cost of bags and filters, and I would say that this was a very poor investment.

I have a 25-year old Henry which is so beaten up now it has been consigned to my garage and workshop. Still works though.

The motor on this vac packed up after 2 years with bearing failure

but it is virtually impossible to replace the bearings without

breaking the motor casing. Looks like Miele have changed their design

philosophy, replace with new only. The complete motor costs more than we paid for the original cleaner!

In my opinion, Miele Cylinder S571 is the best vacuum cleaner ever, the performance is fantastic.

Won't buy anything else.

Used to have a different brand vacuum but Miele 100% better.

We have a cat, the carpet is like new after vacuuming.

The power is amazing.

This hoover is less than 18 months old, and it has suddenly stopped working. It has been used for normal household use, nothing strenuous.

Miele have advised that the motor has packed in. This apparently cannot be replaced. The only alternative is a new vacuum cleaner, which after spending over £140, 18 months ago, indicates that the Miele Cylinder S571 vacuum cleaner is not good value for money. I originally had a much cheaper Electrolux for almost 10 years, which never gave a days trouble. I wish now that I had not given it away!

Miele/Money does not always equate to quality!

Miele's after sales service is appalling. They have done everything possible to get out of the guarantee. We hadn't used genuine Miele bags with our Miele Cylinder S571 vacuum cleaner! Then charge £12.50 if you want the vacuum cleaner back.

I will think twice about another Miele purchase. Our old Electrolux hoover had lasted 20 years, we'd hoped the same from this make.

I was initially tempted to buy a "Henry", but trawled some more reviews on here, and found this brand was well recommended. I found the S571 for £119 at Comet. It seemed so tiny when I opened the box, compared to the uprights, but be warned, this little black machine is a beast! The 1800 setting (full power), practically lifts up the carpet, but you can easily select gentler settings. I also particularly like the care that has been put into the storage for the accessories. The rewind for the cable, the stylish look of it, and the whole quality feel of the machine. I would highly recommend! I love it, and feel it is good value for money.

I eventually purchased the Miele cylinder S571. I was so fed up with trying to decide which one to pick I am 59 so I have made many makes including Dyson and Industrial. I had never heard much about Miele so I went on the internet to learn more about them and afer much research I decided to try the Miele S571 which was not expensive. I paid £114 on the internet and I am really pleased with this machine. It's the best I have had, it is very quiet, strong, plastic, not too heavy, I would recommend this machine. Miele do a range to suite all needs.
