When I Had Trouble With My Last Upright Vacuum Cle

When I had trouble with my last upright vacuum cleaner I decided that I would replace it with what I considered to be a reputable make and bought a Hoover 4207 T. However, what a mistake that was! I have had nothing but trouble with it and would advise anyone to steer clear from buying this model. I only use it for 5 mins and it clogs up, usually where the hose meets the cylinder, so the cylinder needs to be emptied. It therefore takes an age to vacuum the whole house as I am constantly emptying it. Sometimes it clogs up at the other end of the hose and the extra fittings you can put on rarely have any suction in them. The other major problem is that it does not stay upright when left on its own. It is always falling over when it is left and has scratched several walls and some furniture I truly regret buying it and will never buy a hoover model again.

I Bought The Hoover 4207/1 Upright Vacuum Cleaner

I bought the Hoover 4207/1 upright vacuum cleaner as I believed that Hoover built quality vacuum ceaners and for the price it seemed good value. How wrong I was. This machine was a waste of money. It has a lead coming out of the bottom of the machine which you canot help but run over unless you either hook it to the machine (which shortens the already VERY short cable) or hold it up. Every time I have used the hose with the cleaning tools the thing falls over - and given that Hoover warn that it is hazardous to use the machine when it it is not upright -this happens over and over again - as the dents in my walls and doors will show. The thing will only pick up from my medium length carpets when it is intensive clean mode which makes it VERY hard to push around and I often have to use both hands to push it - having to drop the cable and then running over it in the meantime. And even then cannot cope with cotton threads so I have to go round afterwards pickng up what it has left. The per hair attachment clogged when I first used it but when I removed the clog and put it back together it has now stopped working completely. The belt snapped after only a couple of weeks use. When I tried to take it back to the retailer where I bought it from they advised that unless there was a technical fault they could not exchange it without an authorisation from Hoover. Trying to get this has been a nightmare - Hoover's customer service is appalling. I have rung three numbers so far and just keep getting passed about with very unhelpful staff telling me how they can't help and can't put me through to someone who can because 'there are lots of departments and I don't know who you should talk to'. I have resorted to e-mail and am now waiting for a service engineer's appontment. I am hoping they will agree that this is a poorly designed, poorly performing, badly made machine that presents a hazard in its use - I live in hope.

I do agree that the cable is a nuisance coming out at the base of the hoover and I do have to hold it up to prevent an accident but I think it's a brilliant machine and does a fantastic job of completely picking up all the dog hairs etc from my carpets, also it glides very smoothly over the carpets. I love the adjustable handle height and the really efficient tools that are supplied with it. It is slim enough to slide underneath my chairs and sofa's too and the flex is long enough for me to do all my bungalow without having to change the plug socket. I really like the intensive cleaning that this hoover does and my carpets look great in much less time than it took with my old hoover, which I seemed to have to go over the same area a few times to get it looking as good as this one gets them.
