Electrolux Z2257AZ

Very good and cheap prodcut. I recommend it.

It is increasingly difficult to find an upright vacuum cleaner other than one that holds the dirt in a bagless transparent container (I call them "Dust Storm" cleaners). I thought the point of a cleaner was that you did not want to see the dirt any more. Nor do I want to get covered in dust when I empty it out, especially if there is a breeze blowing - my mother's 1950's Hoover was like that and she thought the invention of disposable paper dust bags was the best thing since sliced bread. What has changed; is it a case of Dyson worship?

Even so, the only place I could find this Elecrolux Z2257AZ was through Tescos Direct. Even Electrolux's own web site does not mention it (or any vacuum cleaner at all).

Anyway, this Elecrolux is a "traditional" bagged cleaner and has worked fine since I bought it two months ago. My previous Electrolux lasted 15 years and I discarded it only because an area of the main plastic moulding had literally worn away with the erosion of passing dustts spring.

The only downsides of this new one is that a long extension tube costs extra, and that the hose has a tendency to come out of its socket when using it as an upright; hopefully that will improve as the hose loses some of its springiness.
