My Old Wet & Dry Tub Vacuum Needed Replacing, So A
My old wet & dry tub vacuum needed replacing, so after looking at the options I decided on this Einhell. It has a useable 20ltr. stainless steel drum, which was the downfall of my old one which was tin and rusted through. It comes with 3 x 13 1/2" (34.5 cm) long extension tubes for the 69" (175cm) concertina plastic hose which has a 1 3/4" (4.5cm) suction inlet, a crevice nozzle and an 11" (28cm) wide brush which has a plastic sole plate insert for hard surfaces, together with a 2 1/4" (5.5cm)chrome adaptor to affix brush & nozzle to tube. The only downside is an 8'4" (254cm)cable, which is about 3' (91.5cm) shorter than my old one, so a moderate extension cable might be needed. The filters consist of a cloth bag for general use, a foam filter for wet use and a 20ltr paper dust bag. The instructions state that this bag should be used for fine dust and is not re-useable, but I have found that the cloth bag works fine. Due to the offset inlet on the vacuum side, the container can be filled to capacity. My old one had a verticle inlet which only alowed 3/4 capacity fill. After brushing off the cloth bag with a stiff brush it's good to go again. A universal washable drum filter can however be bought from other suppliers for about £6. I had a paper drum filter fitted on my old vacuum which took a lot of cleaning between the veins. The cloth bag on the new one is cleaned in half the time. On the opposite side of the suction inlet is an outlet port. If the hose is attached here the machine blows. This outlet has an internal foam filter fitted which seems to prevent initial dust blow back after the filter has been cleaned. Something my old one was prone to. The drum has a robust carrying handle. A large accessible on/off switch and is mounted on 4 swivel castors for ease of movement when in use. It comes with a 2 year guarantee, an instruction book in several languages and a spare parts list. This model can cost as much as a £100, but after shopping around I got mine for £49.99 with free delivery. Even at the higher price I believe it offers good value for money when compared to what else is out there. The suction is ferocious and will easily such up brick/cement chippings which will fit through the hose. The noise level is acceptible even in confined spaces and is rated at 80 dB (A). Power input is 1.250w. Weight 5.kg empty. Mains voltage 230V-50Hz. It's double insulated with a proyection class II.
