So Far This Steam Cleaner Has Been Absolutely Bril
So far this steam cleaner has been absolutely brilliant, its so powerful. The Domotec DSC00013 has a good specification and is provided with a versatile range of tools including 2 extension tubes which permit reaching ceilings etc and essential in using the carpet/floor tool, a round brush agitator (used this on oven), a window squeegee tool and a concentrator tool (useful for small areas, grouting etc) plus some towelling cloths for upholstery and carpets. To give a flavour of its flexibility and use for jobs around the home, I've detailed the cleaning operations so far.
Electric cooker.
The steam output is variable from 0 to 130 gm/min. Within a few seconds on maximum flow rate I could not see where I was pointing the nozzle so I backed if off to about 30% of the max and this permitted cleaning and visibility. Using the round brush it removed 90% of the ground in oil and food deposits in the oven on the first clean.
Ceramic tiled floors.
Using the floor/carpet tool it cleaned the floor tiles of every stain very rapidly. Used 100% flow rate with towelling covering the end of the floor tool.
Laminate floors.
Similar to ceramic tiles, the steam removed every sign of stain almost immediately. Used 100% flow rate with towelling covering the end of the floor tool.
Carpets.
Set the steam output to max flow rate at 130 gm/min. The Domotec lifted easy stains on a few passes. For more stubborn stains I had to leave the floor/carpet tool over the stain for 30 seconds. One stain which appeared to be engine oil (according to my wife who knows these things), I used the concentrator nozzle for 20 seconds. Waited 10 mins for the carpet to dry and then vacuumed out dirt residue and then repeated. This technique works on the stubborn stains, even the "engine oil" stain was almost gone, probably needs a repeat of the above to remove completely. The steam cleaning left no marks or colour change as is often the case with some chemical cleaners. On the carpets and flooring I cut up some old tea towels and white towels and used these as cut to the right size are ideal extras to the Domotec supplied cloths.
Because its super heated "dry" steam the carpets can be walked on in bare feet or socks with 10-20 minutes and feel quite dry.
Wall tiles and grouting.
The black mildew stains on grout were removed instantly by the concentrator nozzle, using about 50% of max flow rate.
Safety features.
An excess pressure release valve in the safety cap will release steam if the pressure exceeds a limit. A warning light and audible alarm activates when the boiler is nearly out of water.
Other features include a pressure gauge and an economy feature that switches off the heating element when the steam is not used for a few minutes.
Ease of use.
The 3.7 m electric cable is excellent and the 2m hose provides further flexibility and room coverage. The cable warps around the cleaner unit which is on 3 wheels and easily moved as you work. Holding 2 litres of water I was able to clean the dining room carpets, cloakroom sink, taps, grouting, hallway carpet (twice) Kitchen ceramic tiled floor and with water still available.
One minor drawback is that you have to wait for the machine to cool down before topping up with water. This has been addressed on the Domotec DSC00014 and other high end machines.
Overall I am delighted with the Domotec DSC00013 steam cleaner and for a change I look forward to the spotless cleaning of my car.
