geo49's review of Port El Kantaoui, Houria Palace Hotel

“Hotel from hell”

Written on: 29/03/2015 by geo49 (1 review written)

This hotel is more of a hostal.
On arrival looks good from outside, don't be fooled it goes downhill from there, less than basic in need of major refurbishment. The food was diabolical cold and not fit to eat we had to eat out.Got so bad we had to call rep in,who then called the director of hotel in for a meeting to state our concerns, which were many, food cold had to use microwave to heat up,stated that rice should not be re-heated as this and many more items became health issue.Food then became warmer, but still not fit to eat, only breakfast as you could order fresh cooked food. This hotel does not cater for British guests only Tunisians and European.Found out this hotel is government run so Tunisians take over.Lifts were constantly out of order,Reception staff were very rude and disinterested.Friend had money taken from the room they had a safe nothing much was done and it appeared to have happened before.Drinks on all inclusive very poor, vodka, beer and wine, bar staff were seen to refill empty beer bottles from all inclusive pumps and then charge 4 dinar. The hotel did not seem to be fully open only 1 bar open, snack bar at pool closed. disco closed.
Plus side
2 good pool area's clean as was most of hotel.
Did not feel safe in this hotel so did not make for a good relaxing holiday, thankfully we made friends with people in the same boat and of the same opinion. This is just an out line of how bad this hotel was.Should not be on tour operators sites and if so should carry a health warning.
