Shaw310's review of Ameritania Hotel -

“Similar to sleeping in a very tiny shop”

Written on: 30/09/2014 by Shaw310 (1 review written)

We stayed in New York on the first part of our honeymoon and were initially very pleased with the hotels location to Times Square. It was the smallest room I had ever stayed in but has heard that hotels in NYC are like this. There was a small step into the bathroom that we both tripped over many times and the leg of the bed sticks out so much that I thought I has lost a toe to at one point. Everything in the hotel has a price on it, it was like sleeping in the worlds smallest store. We were very aware if this and did not touch one thing as we didn't want to be charged. Upon check out the guy on reception told me there was no final bill as we had prepaid. Two days later $20 was charged to my card. The hotel has failed to respond to my emails querying this so I will contact my bank tomorrow to inform them of an unauthorised use. I know New Yorkers aren't the friendliest but all of the staff were obnoxious including the cleaners who come to clean your room at 8am. The staff on reception both checking in and leaving we're rude no hellos or eye contact, like they were robots who couldn't utter the words thank you at any point. Including the girl on check I'm who rolled her eyes when I didn't hear what she said and then repeated it like I was stupid. Overall the experience was terrible. I wouldn't recommend this dump to anyone.
