The Oaks has a fabulous location but is less than stellar when it comes to service and amenities.
We were there over Christmas (DEC 24 and 25 2015) and found the hotel to be seriously lacking
at such an important time of year.
There was no housekeeping on the 25th (not indicated anywhere) nor were we in any way forewarned.
A message on the room phone would have sufficed. We had no fresh towels (at a beachfront hotel no less!)
no extra coffee, milk etc and WiFi was very expensive (and sluggish) at $18:00/day.
When we addressed the situation with the harried staff who were doing their utmost to help irate guests, we were informed the manager would not be on the premises until Tuesday Dec 28th.
This is unacceptable during such a peak time of the year. people were left stranded for hours without a room and we had zero service on Christmas Day. This was a special holiday as we are not from Australia and it was frankly ruined by the lack of care we received during our stay.

4.5 stars for the room. 5+ stars for the poor hotel staff abandoned by the manager and 2.5 stars for service on Christmas Day.
In conclusion, I do not recommend this hotel to foreign travellers. They will be sorely disappointed.
