“A-Level Physics Review”

Written on: 07/04/2017

The online course for A-level physics was only avaliable at the time and was around £500. I have been learning from this course for 7 months. Although the course covers the new specification to a okay standard most of the document consisted of links to other websites to teach you what wasnt explained and 1/5 of these links lead to a dead end. Also, there are almost no exercise questions throughout and normally only one example per calculation type. My tutors refused to send me the tutor… Read Full Review

We're sorry to hear that you didn't have a good experience with your course. We will of course look in to everything you've raised here. With regards to the web-links in the course, the author felt that this was a good way of increasing the interactivity of the learning experience, but it is the case with the internet that links can go dead/change without us being aware of it. We will have this course reviewed and get these fixed asap.

It's a bit troubling that you say your tutor 'refused' to send you out your assignments. There is no reason this should have happened, and we can't find any evidence in the emails we have to back this up, so it may just have been a misunderstanding. It's important to note that when studying with a distance learning tutor the onus is the student to initiate and maintain contact, and make your needs known to the tutor. Obviously they can't moniter your progess as a classroom-based teacher would, as they aren't there to physically watch over you as you work. We appreciate this can be difficult sometimes, and of course you had the added difficulty of changing tutors, which is always disruptive.

We are also a bit confused by your statement that the tutors weren't aware of the change in course spec. This, again, seems like it must have been either an accident or a misunderstading, as both tutors assigned to you were fully versed in the change-over of specificiation. Indeed, one of them was involved in writing the new course materials.

Once again, we regret that your experience with us wasn't as you'd hoped it might be, and we will make efforts to explore everything you've raised. We rarely get critical reviews for our courses, so when we do get any negative feedback we take it extremely seriously and take positive steps to address it. Thank you for our review, and for raising thes issues with us.

“OCR A level Classical Civilisation -Awful course and...”

Written on: 21/02/2016 by KarinaCompton (1 review written)

This course was terrible. As an a level student looking for a particularly course my sixth form didn't do I thought this would be the best way to cover my third A level to get to university. I was deeply disappointed, as were my parents paying for this course. The material was full of very basic mistakes, such as putting the wrong name for a characters, and then later fundamental mistakes that would effect someone without the classical background I already had. It felt like the person writing… Read Full Review

We are extremely sorry to hear that you are not happy with the quality of the course material provided, and with the quality of our customer services. We will, of course, ask the original author of the course to review the materials.

We do always try to ensure that our course authors are appropriately qualified, and the author in this instance was qualified to PhD level in the course subject area. We have not previously received negative feedback on his work, but we do understand that errors are possible.
