189 Dollars Is Too Much To Pay To Switch Residence
189 dollars is too much to pay to switch residences.I found a wireless card from (a competitor) that gives me better reliability in foul weather, costs about half as much as my old service, has no cap on bandwith usage, and (drumroll) goes with me wherever I want my laptop to go.No more being chained to my desk at home.I already purchased my dish and modem once, the house I'm moving into was already wired, they didn't care.Bye Wildblue, good luck ripping off everyone else.

I Have The Highest Spped Program.. Overall I Am Ha
I have the highest spped program.. Overall I am happy.. Download speeds have been a little higher than advertised according to speed tests. Latency is bad as uploads run at about twelve times slower speed. Overall, I am gracious as dial up was killing me.... It has been reliable also...
Now For The Bad Points. I Went Through 4wildblue F
Now for the bad points. I went through 4wildblue for the installation. They told me I would only pay for the equipment cost plus shipping and handling. I asked if I would have to pay the installer for anything else after installation. She said no I would not because I live in a brick house with a shingle roof and already have a dishnetwork satellite on my roof. Well, it cost me another $150.00 the day of installation because it had to be mounted on a pole. If it's not in writing don't believe it..... I do not recommend Wild Blue.

I Did A Lot Of Research Online Before Signing Up F
I did a LOT of research online before signing up for Wildblue, and I have come to the conclusion that an awful lot of people (not all, of course, so probably not YOU, so don't flame me.) are making up or exaggerating their problems with the system in my opinion.. If they really are having the issues they are describing, I suspect they probably should be complaining to or about their installer or local dealer rather than the entire Wildblue system. I can't say enough good about Wildblue, who installs for Mid-Wisconsin DBS. The people who answer their 800-number tech support are amazing. (Now I'M sounding like I work for them!). I went with Wildblue after first attempting to use data cards from cell phone companies, because they had gotten better ratings than either Wildblue or Hughes. They did NOT work for me. One (Verizon) didn't work at all in my area, but to their credit, they gave me a full refund when I returned everything several days later (rather than making a special 30 mile trip to return it right away). The second (Alltel) took two tries to get me the right card, and then it was about as fast as dialup as far as I am concerned, and that was AFTER I went out and bought a cell signal booster for our house. They charged a non-refundable $25 activation fee PLUS a pro-rated amount per day, even though the quality was lousy, and I ended up keeping it as long as I did only because of a problem with getting the second card into their local store. So... word to the wise. If you've had any problems with using your cell phone in your house, don't even think about using a data card for internet there.

I Will Be Trying Hughes As Soon As My Contract Is
I will be trying Hughes as soon as my contract is up with Wildblue and I will try to get everyone to pass on the information to keep Wildblue from getting any more customers. I do not recommend Wild Blue.

Wild Blue Satellite Internet Costs Too Much. The
Wild Blue Satellite Internet costs too much. The contract is for 18 months with a significant penalty for early cancellation. The service just doesn't work as advertised. I went this route because I couldn't get cable or DSL. I think I'll be cancelling my service and going to either dialup or ISDN. This is really too bad. I had hopes for this service. If it worked, it would be really nice. It seems like whenever I need it for a time sensitive matter it isn't working. The last time I called technical support there was a 60 minute wait to talk to someone on the phone. The person I dealt with using the chat application (which doesn't work most of the time), was completely useless.
I wouldn't sign up with them again.
