Fantastic Place To Ride. Would Definitely Recommend.

I love the The Greys Riding School, all of the staff are really friendly and helpful, and the instructors are brilliant.

When I first arrived I was pretty nervous, but the staff are very encouraging and happy to help with anything. I was a complete beginner, and everything was explained to me in a clear, but not patronising way. I had a group lesson, and while there were quite a few people in the lesson, so the instructor's attention was obviously divided, the instructor still managed to keep an eye on everyone, and help everyone with their posture etc. If you're a beginner then someone walks alongside you, leading the horse, which I really appreciated as I was so nervous to begin with. The leaders were really nice, they asked if I'd ever ridden before and reassured me when I told them how nervous I was.

After the half hour lesson we went on a hack up the South Downs. I felt that this bit was a little bit short, but I think the lesson overran which was why. Again the leader came with me, which helped me to feel comfortable as I knew the horse wasn't going to run away or anything like that.

Overall, I had a fantastic first lesson, and I'd love to come back. I paid £29 for my lesson and hack, which totalled an hour spent on the horse, and I believe it's cheaper for children. I thought this was a little expensive, but I thoroughly enjoyed what I paid for, and I don't think that I paid any more than I would have paid at another riding school. Overall I had a great time and will definitely be coming back!

I Booked My First Ever Lesson With The School And

I booked my first ever lesson with the school and explained over the phone Id only have 4 lessons ever, my height and weight were taken as normal and I booked in. On arrival I was greeted by name however even though it was my first time there I was just told to grab a hat and boots and just told 'your horse is next' no chat no discussion etc I was taken into the arena and briefly asked what I had done before, almost imediately into the lesson a small dog came loose into the arena and stayed there the whole lesson running about.(there were several dogs running loose in the courtyard) The instructor was pleasant enough however spent 50% of the lesson playing wth the dog letting or chase the whip, the horse was very reluctant to respond to me( my skills as you can imagine are low) and every single time i looked up to the instrutor for assistance she was playing with dog. Not only do I not expect this paying £28 for half an hour but I found it ectremley negligble and not sure how they can get way with it.I love dogs and think its a good idea to have them around stables so the horses get used to it however I think in a private lesson its totally unacceptable especialy with someone very new to horses and riding.

I was corrected on a few things but unlike my previous lessons with another school no where near enough. Never once was my posture corrected and I know I have problems in this area being so new so I cant imagine it had turned perfect over night.

The only positive I can say is that the horses seemed extremly well cared for and in great condition which is why they get one star.

I can honestly say it was the first time I felt unsafe during a lesson and I came away feeling I had learned nothing and extremely frustrated.

I will not be going back nor would I recommend to anyone.
