Shortcross Bridgend

My daughter learnt more here than in a previous school in a year. She was cantering within 1/2 hour. Had some one to one private lessons to boost confidence and she now attends Pony club regularly. Thoroughly enjoys content of pony club activities and after owning pony for a week can't wait to go on pony camp 2013 - camping and all. Wide selection of well mannered and gently but also feisty and exciting ponies and horses, three pony clubs available with lots of scope for aspiration. Fabulous, friendly staff just what newbie needs, made us feel very welcome. School shows very exciting, jumping, Summer, Halloween and Christmas fun packed, hard work and dedicated teachers. Very fairly priced, informative website and Facebook. Would recommend to anyone they also do pony parties for young children a fab alternative and good exercise. Best wishes for continued success.

i think thats its great in my first lesson i had learnt more than i had in 6 months in another riding school and they are all really friendly.

would reccomend this place to anyone even my mom came for a lesson and ejoyed it didnt feel judged just had fun.

This place is AMAZING! I have previously ridden in several riding schools and nothing compares to shortcross. The people are so friendly, the horses are wonderfull and the area is breathtaking. Everything is so laid back and you never feel rushed. There is a voriaty of things to do from hacks, to riding lesson, own a pony week, you name it they do it!***** I would highley recommend this to friends.

I think shortcross stables is a wonderfull place, it has given us the oppurtunity to spend more time round horses, we throughly enjoy every minute up there. very tidy yard with extremly friendly people, well recommened .

its amazing that is bhs and ponyclub approved!!!! dont no how they managed that!!! lovely setting but so badly run its unreal!! wouldnt keep my horse there if u paid me!

I couldn't disagree more with the last two reviews, I've found Shortcross Stables to be a very friendly yard for both lessons & livery with no negative atmosphere at all, it is pleasure to spend time with my horse there. With regard to unqualified staff, the yard is BHS approved, a Pony Club Centre & council licenced, surely they wouldn't give their approval & support if the level of teaching wasn't sufficient? The yard also displays its insurance certificate so I'm not concerned about the consequences of an accident. I know for sure that the instructor I have is an AI! Would throughly recommend this yard to anyone.

Amazing yard, amazing location, amazing owners but people on the yard are so bitchy its unreal not being run properly at all always a mess wouldnt keep my horses there and the school are a mess.

I have recommended many friends. The facilities are good for the money and the hacking out is the best I have known. Everyone works together and has fun-especially the kids. The fact that there is all year turnout is brilliant and the services are great. If there are problems they are discussed-best of all it is a safe and fun place for children and adults alike

This yard is run very well and profesionally and the staff are alway willing to spend time to help you and your horse. All the riding-school ponies are well looked after, well fed and are stabled when possible in the spacious, clean american style barn or the more tradional style wooden stables that look out onto a neat, gravelled yard. The area is beautiful and the hacking is amazing, the best in the area in my opinon.

On site there is a masive cross-country course that is open durinf the sumer months and 2 all weather schools (with jumps), 1 of with is floodlit so perfect for those dark winter nights. Ther is also a round pen suitable for fee-schooling or lunging and a grass jump arena that is open for use in the summer months and includes a full set of wooden jumps.

Overall this a friendly yard with a community feel where everybody pulls together and has bags of fun

I think that short cross is a very well run yard, the staff throughtly look after all ponies including the riding school ponies to the livery horses. it is good value for money considering the facititles and it is BHS approved, (very few in the area!! ) The only slight down side may be the winter turn out, but to be fair theres not many places with fantatstic turn out this time of the year!!. The staff are very helpfull and aim to do a lot for the younger generation, including pony camp which was fantatsic this year!! All in all i would recommened this yard to every1 as a top, up coming yard, with fab facititles, people and a superb area.
