Tetra Aps 400 - New, And Noisy!!!
Brand new out of the box. Rig it up, and it sounds like a fridge freezer on its last legs. I mean its not a marching band or anything, but if like me you're intending to spend time in the same room as your fish tank, make no mistake, this pump will drive you out of it. It, or your mind. Maybe the smaller models live up to the hype, I don't know, but this pump is everything you pay the APS's premium price to avoid.
In short: if you're researching this pump before shelling out the not so attractive price for it, consider yourself forewarned and start researching another pump. Maybe a few APS 50's would be a better solution. Or maybe a completely different pump. I know which direction I'm going in. You'd have to ask the binmen which direction this piece of **** pump is going in.

Aps400 Diaphram Problems
I bought two aps400 air pumps for my 90gallon tank on the promise of it being quiet with new long lasting diaphrams. It sounded just what i needed. Wrong!! ok it was very quiet when new but within a couple of months the rubbers split first on one then the other followed shortly after. I was spending more time in the shop i bought them from and fair enough the man in the fish shop had them replaced no problem but it was the inconvenience of it all.
Eventually i decided to write to tetra to see if that would be any better, they sent me a new pump with a rather nasty letter telling me that the diaphrams are not made to last a long time and not to contact them for something that is meant to wear out, but come on two months is a bit ridiculous!!
Would never entertain another pump off Tetra.

Same Problem As Everybody Else. Diaphragm Goes Aft
Same problem as everybody else. Diaphragm goes after about 4-6 weeks. Always in the same place on the magnet side. Never again. Buying a different one ASAP.

I Bought 2 Of These For An 8x2x2 Tank.
I bought 2 of these for an 8x2x2 tank.
I was very careful - no restrictions, air lines in a ring to allow excess air to circlate. I have replaced 1 pump under warranty and am on my fourth set of diaphrams. They last 1-2 months and are about £8/set if you can get them
When new it is very quiet. As the components wear it gets noisier and noisier. When the diaghrams are getting old it is very loud indeed. To be honest, this was a complete waste of time and money

I Always Went For Tetra Products, So When I Made A
I always went for Tetra products, so when I made a big pond in the garden, I went for the Tetratec APS400, as I needed power, which I got it worked very well for 2 weeks then the diaphragms got torn, the problem is that you have to buy the whole kit, i.e. paying for things you don't need. I have to change the diaphragms every couple of weeks as they don't last. Also now the outlet were you jion the air pipe broke from the housing, how, no idea it is in a fixed place and cannot get knocked about, but it did. Part no answer new pump.
Bought This Pump Thinking You Get What You Pay For
bought this pump thinking you get what you pay for but with this you dont stay well clear, diaphragms broke after no time the next time they go which wont be long i will be getting a different oneif i had never had other tetratec products i would never have anything to do with tetratec again based on the aps 400 air pump
The Tetratec Aps 400 Air Pump Is Very Noisey, Desp
The Tetratec APS 400 Air Pump is very noisey, despite being sold as a quiet air pump. It only worked for about a month before the diaphragm gave up - I then couldn't get spares as they were out of stock at the supplier for 3 months. arg. I wouldn't recommend this pump - it is expensive but largely rubbish.
Had The Tetratec Aps 400 Air Pump For 6 Months All
Had the Tetratec APS 400 Air Pump for 6 months all ready replaced diagrhrams 2 times and need to replace again.
are tetratec offering no explanation. do they not care for customer satisfaction.these are difficult times and there are plenty of other brands. people will soon go elsewhere and quite right
