Visiting To Adopt
I really enjoyed myself there. I loved the way the cats were so friendly. I got a tour of the place and was very impressed. There were horses, goats and donkeys. There was the biggest Saint Bernard I have ever seen and I just loved him. The owners are very lucky. I loved the freedom to look around and the staff were wonderful and I spent a lot of time there gaining a lot of educational information and a lot of friendly conversation. It was a great experience and it made my day! I previously had 3 dogs that I lost to old age and one from cancer. I would love to adopt a large dog who needs a good home.

I Have Used Mvpr Since 2005 And My Animals Are Saf
I have used MVPR since 2005 and my animals are safe, happy and well cared for there. I also bought some new food from Barb and noticed a good improvment in my dog's health. I would recommend MVPR to anyone and the price is very reasonable.

I Am So Glad I Found Mountain View Pet Resort. Whe
I am so glad I found Mountain View Pet Resort. When I moved to Calgary a year and a half ago I visited over 25 kennels to find the perfect fit for my dog. I was so impressed when I found Mountain View Pet Resort that I would never take him to another kennel again. I dont even mind making the hour and a half drive out there. As long as i know he's going to be in good hands. The staff there treated him like he was their's and that is what I was looking for. A home away from home.

My Experience Of Mountain View Pet Resort Was Not
My experience of Mountain View Pet Resort was not a very good one. I left two pets here for two weeks. I left organic raw meat (frozen), which they have routinely at home; beds, a ball, and dishes.
I was led to believe that the animals are fed and cared for according to owners wishes. Instructions were given regarding feeding etc. When pets were collected (not by myself), one bed was missing, and the one that was returned, was not ours. The ball (an expensive one for a pet toy) was lost, and both of my dishes were missing.
The bed that was sent back; was subsequently destroyed by my dog a few weeks later - and inside it were nails and pins!!! LOTS of them. Most alarming! The kennel was not the cleanest, and there was a strong smell of urine. The people seemed nice and friendly enough and the dog was happy to be there on a visit beforehand. Both pets smelled pretty bad at pick up, and there was DRY food in the Cats cage! I NEVER give my pets dry food, and was most disappointed to learn they had been given this when I provided top quality raw meat!
I will not be going back there, and would definitely not recommend it to anyone.
Sounds like you should have hired an in house pet sitter for your pets and not even considered a kennel accourding to the specific meal type & 'luggage' your pets require.
I have worked as a trainer, groomer & kennelhand and can tell you this is a fisrt rate establishment that really does give your pet the attention he/she needs daily.
If put into perspective you would find that the issues you mentioned are acutally more important to you (or the pet owner) than the pet(s) - the majority of pets (dogs especially) care more about not being alone - so if YOu insist that they be fed top quality organic meat and have specific feeding rituals even for the short periode they would be in a kennel then YOU would find better peace of mind with an in house pet sitter service.
Kennel are to be used as short term temporary hotels for pets - just as you need to adapt when you stay in a hotel so do your pets & most pets do wonderfully - provided attention & playtime is available daily during your absence.
How to tell if it's a 'good' keneel? When visiting for the first time take note of the staff's interacton with the pets already in thier care; do they (pets) run to great them, shy away or are they indiferent? check the play area - does it appear well used? are the pets left alone in this area or is someone there with them & - most imprtant - is the staff member interacting with the pets or standing offside watching or doing something else? Do the kennel owners have pets themselves?
It can be difficult to leave your pet in a new place for the first time & be sure it's a good place so try leaving him/her there for a short stay (day or overnight) If your pet refuses to get out of the vehicle when you go there again then he/she was probalby not getting the care that was promised.
(although some pets suffer from various levels of axiety seperation from thier owners and are best left with someone they know to care for them)
Our pet loves this kennel & having worked in the industry - I too am VERY picky about who looks after our little darling. Especially kennel boarding - so I understand how stressful leaving your special guy/gal with strangers can be.
I hope this info helps you in selecting a care giver for your pets in the future that you will all be comfortable & happy with.
