Real Oak Floors - Narrow Plank Lacquered Oak

As a floor fitter myself, i never actually managed to buy anything from this company (pure luck as it goes)but when i first visited their shop i was totally ignored & left standing at the counter & awkwardly wondering the showroom aimlessly. On my second visit a few months later, i walked in & witnessed a screaming match between an unhappy customer & one of their staff, consequently i slithered off embarrased. As first impressions go, i can honestly say i've never seen such appalling customer service & to be honest i dont think they even deserve one star, judging from the other comments that have been left on here.

Looks like company has ceased trading! I asked a friend in Leeds to visit today (9 JAN 2012). Showroom is closed and a neighbouring business thought that REALOAK no longer exist.

Everything seemed fine at first - samples came as requested. Chose a floor and paid in full a month ahead of delivery date agreed with them.

builders awaiting delivery. Nothing turned up. lots of chase calls to them and eventually they said our order was 'lost'.

they could not offer any replacement for over a month so said they'd refund. Had to cancel and order through another company.

However, still no refund from them. Paying out interest on money that is sitting in their bank account!

Seems like this is a regular experience with this company. Wish I had read the reviews before using them.

AVOID!

First impressions good - nice looking engineered flooring samples, arriving fairly quickly, friendly emails and people on the phone. Should have had alarm bells ringing when they said 4 weeks to delivery as everywhere else seems quicker. They kept saying the floor was "arriving soon", then it was "in stock and awaiting delivery", then it was out of stock again. Never once returned a call after 12 conversations and messages from myself and the floor fitters. Appalling customer service - very very rude. When I finally cancelled the order as it was clear the order hadn't even been placed with the supplier, they wouldn't let me speak to anyone in "finance" regarding my refund ( I suspect there are 3 people in an office). The excuses kept coming - at lunch, on annual leave, on the other line, blah blah. Only when we said the bank (paid on visa debit) would try to claim the money back from their merchant bank directly (the bank said they had to be given 15 days after cancellation to refund the money before they could take action) did they pay up on day 14. They must have cash flow problems. Absolutely avoid and a big lesson in internet shopping.

aviod this company like the plague.

they will take your money and mess you about over and over again.

I originally ordered a load of solid chamfered skirting, architrave and some engineered door casings which went smoothly enough. But when I fully unpacked the casings I found a packing strap had stained the casing. I rang up but they said I have had it too long to get it replaced!

When the whole house had been fitted I realised I was a few bits of architrave short so I put another order in with them to make sure the profile would match the already fitted architrave.

The payment was taken on the 3rd of august and started as 'you are looking at 3-4 weeks' fair enough. Then 7-10 days on the 21-aug. Then the 19th of Sep. Then the back log of orders excuse which seems a popular one. Then problems with the quality of the product so couldn't be sent out. Then still waiting for the order then the milling machine of the the supplier is faulty?

Where does it end? when will I receive my order?

Don't bother with this company if you have a deadline within 4 months. The products seem OK but the service is non existent!

After being promised a delivery date for my

Karndean flooring it didn’t come, so I had to cancel the fitter who was none

two happy, no one even bothered to call me from Real Oak Floors to say there

had been a problem, there excuse was its Karndean’s problem! (delivery

problems) but having called customer services at Karndean they said they had

7,000 boxes in at 2-3 days delivery turnaround.  After waiting another

week the same thing happened, no phone call so after a long time hanging on the

phone I got through to someone, again another poor excuse, (delivery problems).

Again after a long time hanging on the phone to speak to someone (and being

promised numerous call backs) I did manage to speak to the Manager and after a

bit of pushing from me she confessed to waiting until they had several orders

in so they could place a big order with there supplier to keep there costs

down, so me the customer has to wait indefinitely until such a time they place

there order. So any delivery date you get it is impossible to plan a fitter to

do the job, as more than likely your product will not come.

After the buying experience that I had with real oak floors I am having serious doubts as to the authenticity of any of the positive reviews for this company that appear on this site.

After placing an order I was given a delivery date of 2 weeks. I should have read the warning signs then as all the other internet sites I had been on were quoting anywhere between next day and 3 day deliver- Real Oak Floors obviously carries no stocks!.

After 3 weeks and no contact I e-mailed them but got no reply. After 4 weeks I started phoning every day but still got nowhere. I was given numerous excuses why the floor had not been delivered- manufacturers machine breakdown and then delivery truck break down etc.

When I asked to speak to a manager/owner/director they were always on holiday/ in meetings/on a call. I desperation I said I would hold until someone was available. I was on hold for nearly 20 minutes and then the phone was disconnected.

By now it was getting on for 7 weeks since my order. In desperation I made the trip to leeds. No one of any authority would come into the showroom to explain what the problem was and why I couldnt get my floor.

In the car park I met a joiner who like me had come quite a distance to try and get his order. He told me he had been recommended a company in the Derbyshire and in the end I tracked them down, ordered online and got pretty much the same flooring within 2 days.

I cannot think of anything to commend this firm. When I typed in real oak floors complaints on the internet I came across an entry that said they went into administration in 2010!

Ordered some 200mm solid oak rustic board looks perfect and has the cottage effect i was going for. Lead time was 2 weeks but was in no rush as it would be down forever. Delivery charge was a bit expensive but probably would have cost me the same in petrol. Overall very happy.

I have recently purchased my solid wood flooring from realoakfloors.co.uk. Delivery was fast and I have just received what I ordered. The floorboards look the same as the sample. (I was a bit concerned about this, but I cannot complain) I got all information I need; I talked to a very helpful lady. This was the 1st time I orderd from them, I will use this shop again.
