Same Problem, Different "cure" (temporary!)
We liked this shower,s pressure so much that when the "cannot turn it off" problem occoured we bought another. this one developed the same fault after a couple of years, so, since we can access the pipes via a cupboard in the adjacent room, we fitted a turn off stop valve to the pipe supplying the hot water, and for about a year have been nipping into that spare room to turn the shower on/off. cranky but efficient. having read previous reviews my husband is now tasked with dismantling - descaling the unit.....

I Too Have Had Issues With The Shower Unit Not Shu
I too have had issues with the shower unit not shutting down for several seconds until on Xmas Day (!) it wouldn't shut down at all! I have just stripped it down and after removing 8 screws from the bottom of the unit I found the piston on the hot water side was stuck. I took that apart (access via a screw above it - the hot water valve slips out to get access), silicon greased it all and it is now working! I feel like a conquering hero!!!

Our shower unit is now around 4-5 years old & same problem.............
it wont turn off!
Ours was purchased from Wickes who obviously sold it under their own brand name but it did say it was Croydex. Both Wickes & Croydex do not want to know! It is so very obviously a manufacturing fault, no wonder Wickes no longer sell these shower units.
Consequently we are searching these reviews for help & assume everyone else is doing the same.

Initially The Croydex H2o Hydro-powered Mixer Show
Initially the Croydex H2O Hydro-Powered Mixer shower worked fine and replaced the original unit without to much disruption to the cubical. However shortly after a water softner had been fitted to our mains supply the h2o hydro powered shower developed problems mainly with the hot water supply not turning off. The system has been isolated and we are expecting a plumber to see if he can fix it early next week. After reading the revues I wont be holding my breath.

I Had The Original Croydex H2o Hydro-powered Mixer
I had the original Croydex H2O Hydro-Powered Mixer (a thinish square unit ) some 5 yrs ago and after 2yrs it would not turn off properly.
I was sent free of charge a completly new unit but of a different style (a round unit with large round wheel dial on/off assembly on the front ) but working on the same hot/cold mixing method ie `ventury principal`.
This has now developed the same fault of not turning off after having a hot shower. However, I have overcome this problem (not by repair and not a permanent satisfactory solution) by turning the dial after a hot shower to about an inch away from the `off` position so the whole of the blue shows through the window.By letting the cold water run for as long as it takes to dry myself probably 3 minutes then turning it to the off position at 12 `o` clock, then back to an inch away betweenone and ten times rather quickly it turns off !
Now if I were to look for a more permanent solution I was told by the makers in Saltash,Devon the problem was caused by a build up of lime scale - to take the temperature dial off, remove the front cover which exposed the guts, take the unit off of the wall and descale with vinegar.
I hav`nt yet had the courage to do this in fear of the unit not going properly back together again !
Any one done this procedure ?
Malcolm.

The Croydex H2o Hydro-powered Mixer Is No Longer M
The Croydex H2O Hydro-Powered Mixer is no longer made and no spares available. Now as rare as hen's teeth and equivalently expensive. Frustrating. These units should be a mainstay of production of British industry and lack of spare parts is a short term business decision of which the UK is currently reaping rewards I think.

My experience is similar. Folks, to repair the Aquadart leaking, does the white plastic bar that moves along to open the shower pull right out and is there a O Ring on the end of it that needs replacing to stop the leak.
Also where does one add the sicilon grease to make to operate better

Both My Croydex H2o And Older Hydroflow Are Leakin
Both my Croydex H2O and older Hydroflow are leaking so badly that the lower pressure will not pull the hot water sufficiently. Can anyone suggest a sealant that would work on this type of plastic. It happened when I had to take them apart to solve the 'not turning-off' problem, then they leaked from all the joints, especially the top plate. The dripping/not turning off is easy to fix, but so far I'm stuck with the leaking issue.
Would be great if someone could make a more robust version, even for a higher price.

I'm in the plumbing business. The very low cost and hence minimal retail profit margin prevented promotion of this Croydex H2O Hydro-Powered Mixer through normal plumbing outlets.
I am very sorry that croydex discontinued production several years ago,and that no other similar product ,at a sensible price is currently available in the uk.(April 2008)
I agree with the review. I have the problem that mine is leaking at the joints between the sections. Can you suggest a sealant, maybe a gasket compound that would work on this type of plastic construction (poypropylene?) ? It woudl be great if someone else could manufacture a more robust version.
