Someone came To Quote On Removing My Existing Boil
Someone came to quote on removing my existing boiler and replacing it with a Valliant with 7 year warranty + plus install mixer tap in the bathroom at a fixed cost install he inspected the existing setup before quoting. I took the offer of install. The day before install he rang saying he had to cancel because he had an eye examination, so we re-scheduled for the following Saturday. On the day of install he phoned saying that the boiler he was collecting was damaged so was waiting for a replacement so would be delayed. An hour later he bought the replacement to the house then proceeded to drain down my radiators. After 20 mins of setting up he told me that the boiler he had ordered wasn't suitable, as he had mis-identified my existing boiler which was an Icos Ideal HE24 saying that there were 2 types of this boiler and he had guessed it wrong. He said he would then try to rectify on the spot trying to seek an alternative boiler. Him and his mate spent about 45 mins googling on their phones then said they had found an alternative but they couldn’t guarantee the supplier had it as the stock was showing low, however they went to the supplier, 2 hours later they returned empty handed saying they couldn’t get one and said they would have to re-arrange for another time and he would let me know. They quickly started to take the air out of the radiators before filling the system again, then firing up the boiler they didn’t wait for the heat to come on he just waited to hear the boiler fire up then said it’s all fine. I asked if he could fit the tap since he was here, he replied that he would do that when he returned when he had his tools out, and couldn’t leave the property fast enough. He had wasted at least 5 hours of my Saturday with his incompetency. I noticed after they had left that a few of the radiators in the property were either not heating up at all despite being switched on or were a mixture of cold / warm areas on them. I contacted him about this after he left and over the weekend but he ignored Voice mails & texts. On Monday I tried phoning him and he ignored my calls, I with-held my number and phoned him Monday lunchtime for him to answer saying he had just got the messages he gave me some weird answer about valves and said I could adjust these to fix them, I said I didn’t know what he was talking about so he said he come round on Monday evening but to phone him again at 6:30 to ensure I was home from work. At 6:15 I phoned him who said that he couldn’t attend right at 6:30 as he was called to emergency where someone had a pigeon stuck behind their fireplace and said he would phone me afterwards. He didn’t phone back. I had tried contacting him several times since sending texts and emails and voice mails to which all of them have been ignored.
Since his visit I did check with Valliant and they have told me that he isn’t even able to offer 7 year warranty’s at the moment as he is no longer registered as an advanced installer.
