Value For Money

Shabby Shabby Shabby

Dear Electrat

I am sorry to hear of your problems, but am not at all surprised. We also purchased a worktop from Glasseco in 2010 and had nothing but trouble from the very begining. After paying our deposit and waiting a frustrating 5 months the worktops arrived and were slightly the wrong colour from what we had been expecting. But after waiting so long we were desperate for our kitchen, so my husband and I accepted the worktops rather begrudgingly.

After they had been fitted, the joints were uneven with a ridge in the middle... They did come back to try and fix this, but it was rather unsuccessful and we decided to finally send the worktops back.

Glasseco were quite dismissive and neither came to get the worktops or refunded our money. They have closed and changed their name to Glasseco International now, so while we are not strictly out of pocket like you, we have paid a lot of money for worktops which are the wrong colour and have been very poorly installed.

We are still undecided as to changing these for another worktop, which seems very wasteful, especially as we were very keen to be as green as we could with our extension, and now wish we hadn't bothered.

Obviously I would advise anyone else against using Glasseco in the future.

Glasseco Supplied Us With A Kitchen Worktop In 200

Glasseco supplied us with a kitchen worktop in 2009. We quickly found that the surface was staining badly. After some remedial repairs by Glasseco they admitted a fault with the resin and said they would replace it. This was in Jan 2010. In Oct 2010 they stopped returning our calls and have since changed their name and moved. We are out of pocket £4500.

We had a similar experience. We were so pleased to find an innovative, sustainable product. We did our homework, visited the factory etc and ordered a 5 metre run of stunning White glasseco worktop in spring 2009. It soon started to break up, leaving splinters of glass loose on the surface - not great for a cooking surface and stained badly. After months of hassle Glasseco took it back to the factory and ground it down several millimetres which really detracted from the look of it, and once it was re-installed (this time with a mismatch in levels at the join) the splintering and staining happened again. Since then the company refuse to return our calls. All in all a very expensive disappointment.
