AVOID ANGLIAN HOME IMPROVEMENTS. The salesman tried to push through a contract with the wrong units and without the peripheral decorating work I had requested several times. He also said it was "crucial" to have the kitchen survey done the very next day, not telling me that I would then be liable for 25% of the kitchen cost (in the small print) and could no longer cancel. He sold me payment protection insurance, saying "don't worry about it, it's already included" implying that the cost was low. The insurance premium was in fact £1,200 on top of the kitchen price and I didn't even particularly need it with a high income and solid work history. He also lied outright when I asked if I would be able to pay off the credit balance within a few months of taking out the loan. There were heavy penalties for doing this in the small print.

I also noticed in the small print that if the kitchen work is only partially completed and it is the fault of Anglian, I will still be liable to pay for the work performed (amount to be determined by Anglian) whilst Anglian would not have to pay any penalties to me for unfinished work. After signing the document and calling the salesman to query about inconsistencies, he still tried to get me to keep the contract for over a week, saying surveyors were suddenly unavailable (another lie when I checked with the company). This would have deprived me of my statutory rights to cancel within a 7-day cooling off period.
