Crown Stays White Quick Dry Satin Paint - Don't Buy
Having spoken to complaints department at Crown they intimated that this paint is not really suitable for painting on top of oil based paint (well it's not going to be used on walls is it and as it's for wood and metal, these items would have been previously painted with oil based paints anyway) and to get any adhesion it sounds as though you have to sand right back to the bare wood!
I've been asked to send paint flake samples, oh joy, there'll be plenty of those as I've now got 20m of skirting board to sand back down again before I can re-paint - and I won't be using Crown!
This paint is carpet fitters nightmare - now that the lead has been taken out - too dangerous - it makes white paint go yellow - and omitting the oil as well - not environmentally friendly - the paint is now rubbish. So does it make sense to omit these elements completely if the paint isn't doing the job it is supposed to? This means that you now buy twice as much paint, use twice as much electric (if using a sander) & use twice as much petrol to go buy more paint! Of course your time accounts for nothing.
And it's not just diy individuals who are having this problem but carpet fitters say that professional decorators are having a nightmare with paint quality at the moment - where will it end? So much so for EU regulations.
