Terrible Aftersales Treatment

After having both back and front door fitted, the front door bowed. Three engineers and numerous phone calls including a answer phone message asking if it was the front or back door that was faulty after two engineers had inspected it. A new front door arrived which was the wrong measurements, back to numerous phone calls with promises of people phoning me back which doesn't happen. So hay ho, don't use Tesco. They are not the cheapest and I presumed a big company would live up to the promises made. Still left with a door that is dangerous and a fire hazard, If you want to know who Del Boy works for now, it's definitely Tesco.

No Clubcard Points

The website, the salesman, and the contract you sign, says you're going to get Tesco Clubcard points if you order a set of Tesco windows.

But you never get the points.

I phoned to ask why, and they said they don't do Clubcard points any more.

I asked about the contract, which clearly stated I was due 8000+ points, and they said it wasn't their problem, and hung up on me.

Door Broke - They Refused To Fix

Title says it all really.

The salesperson seemed nice , friendly, and low pressure.

The installation was delayed by a week as they lost my order. They managed to break one of my bookcases while fitting one of the windows : and left me with a huge pile of books and wood on the floor to fix.

Finally, about 3 months after installation, the lock went on the front door. Despite all the talk of a 10 year guarantee, the person on the helpline refused to send anyone out.

Final insult : they never sent out the £100 worth of clubcard points they promised.

Very Nice Guy No Pressure

We wanted a price for a conservatory we had 4 hours of hell from another company who insisted on my wife being at home as well for some reason.

After the four hours the salesman still had not given me a price.

Tesco sent out Mr Gardner who seems to work from their Huntingdon depot. He knew everything about footings ground conditions and was extremely helpfull in designing what I wanted.I did not place an order as through the surveyor we found out the conservatory needed piled foundations which would have cost around £4k extra so we did not proceed sorry Tesco but could not afford the extra!!

Super service though five stars.

if they still use K glass the windows are not superior quality...but poor quality..K glass is outdated and is 13 years old.(look at tv's or anything from that long ago...there is far superior glass around now. the reason companies still use K glass is because it is soo cheap and people presume it is a good glass. Pilkingtons who make the glass are fazing it out as they are launching K-2 sometime in the next 12 months..looks as though you have been duped.

Tesco Windows - Double Glazing

Tesco windows? They should stick to food and drink, after leaving details and answering numerous questions, eventually a “Job worth doing” call me from Cheshire. Surveyor came out who never knew anything about the product, fitting timescales which left me suspicious. After delving further into this company I was horrified to find out that this company has the same headquarters as Zenith Staybrite & Weatherseal who do not have the best of track records and some shocking reviews. I have now received my quote for £6,300 which is £2,000 more expensive than my other quotes. Every Little helps??? That’s a joke!!!

I assume you don't work for JWD or tesco, but perhaps you should I am sure they would pay good money for such a honest reviewer.

I own a double glazing and conservatory company. It's a family business and we are interested in offering a good service at competitive rates for our customers. We have been around for 24 years doing just that and have built up to three showrooms.

Everyone in the industry knew exactly what the set up was between Zenith and Tesco, and we cringed. Zenith have one of the worst reputations in our business for inflated prices for the not so clued up customer, coming down by 75% for someone who has some sense. They take advantage of people that are older or not able to cope with pressure salesmen.

Before my son came into my business, I sent him on the Zenith sales rep training course for 3 weeks, just to show him how not to treat customers. He was shocked at reps giving prices of £28,000 and coming down after 4-5 hours to £7,000.

For Tesco to be associated with this tells you that it’s really profits over customers that matter to them.

It seems that Tesco have teamed up with Zenith for the frames and Job Worth Doing for the installation. In effect, Zenith are just using the Tesco name to sell their wares(not surprising, given Zenith's shocking reputation). In other words, anybody buying a 'TESCO' window will get Zenith and JWD to do the work and they will pay TESCO commission. TESCO are again trying to hijack an industry they know nothing about simply by using their name and subcontracting to the highest bidder. This is why they are 20-30% dearer than the local companies who give a better service.
