So we agreed to have Derwent Sash Windows install our windows in August. They were not the cheapest but they gave us confidence that they would do a good job. We were not due to move into our house until October and we agreed with Derwent that they could have some flexibility in terms of the installation times as the house would be empty. What we did not realise was that they would take this as an opportunity to install our windows in a piece meal / adhoc manner and that there service we would experience would be awful. Unfortunately to complement the appalling service we were also met with a terrible attitude from the owns of the business.

The problems we experienced were numerous

* they installed the first window but the windows has no closing mechanism so the house was left insecure for the first week

* handles installed incorrectly (the wrong way round), they did not notice

* window openings not installed when they should have been

* window openings the wrong way round

* broken gutter for over 2 weeks

* final installation date after the agreed deadline

* keys left under our wheelie bin ...again the house was insecure

* incomplete installation - a whole course of bricks was missing above one window and we had to call them back

* no agreements on time of installations - we were obviously added to the end of the day jobs

* horrible attitude from the owners...no apologies for all of the above

* window installation off centre - it looked odd...again this was not picked up by them

Clearly Derwent are the installers of the windows and not the manufacturer so my advice would be to find out who manufacturers these windows and find someone who has a reasonable level of customer service to fit them.

Derwent Sash Windows were recommended by a neighbour who said that their products and work were excellent.

Our first impressions were that the company was a small family run business who genuinely cared about providing a quality product with good service. We were not disappointed.

Besides quoting for the doors (Upvc and oak)we also needed old fascia removed and some stonework/pointing done. This was quoted for at a competitive price.

The guys who carried out the work were meticulous, detailed and courteous.

Although several visits were needed to finish the work this was fitted in without any serious delays.

The windows are absolutely terrific. They're the envy of many on my street and several visitors! The team were great and installed them efficiently and with no mess - wonderful.

We did a lot of research into which were the best UPVC sash windows for our victorian property. We viewed numerous samples and none matched the quality offered by Derwent Sash. All the staff were knowledgable, polite and professional. There was never any 'hard sell' unlike many other companies! The whole installation process went really smoothly and dates and times were honoured. The way the installers prepared each room so as to cause minimum mess was brilliant and made my life a lot easier! The windows look fabulous - you struggle to notice that they aren't wood and it is great to have sash windows back in the property.

After a lifetime of negativity about double glazing, PVC windows and doors in particular, we have to say that we are absolutely delighted with these that have been fitted by Derwent Sash Windows. They look even better than wood and have transformed our property.

We alsp greatly appreciated the lack of hard-sell by the company which would be totally unnecessary for such a good product. All the staff were a pleasure to have working here for over a week, clearing up after themselves and causing minimal damage to the decor.

Fantastic job from a very professional firm. The job was done perfectly within one day with from start to finish and all unwanted material removed.

The hardwood sash windows are of excellent quality and at a reasonable price. The fitters were not only technically efficient, but they went to a lot of trouble to make the rooms clean both during and after the work.

Absolutely fantastic service and product, I cannot recommend this company highly enough. From initial inquiry to installation the customer service and attention to detail have been outstanding. We have been advised on product, manufacturing processes, security details and most importantly sensitively advised regarding historical features of our house and the surrounding houses. The windows were installed without a problem, the installation team were punctual, courteous, tidy and professional. And our house is transformed.

They came when they said and did a fantastic job.They are expensive its true but well worth the money. The Bygone windows that I had fitted are fantastic!
