Satisfied Customer

Our experience of countrywide began with a visit from there salesman who quite quickly grasped our situation and gained our confidence.Explaining in great detail our options.Once we decided to go ahead we were very satisfied with updates and guidance through the whole process. We also used countrywides financial adviser whom we could not have done without.

She was great. The staff all round have been very pleasant helpful and professional. We are very satisfied customers.

Countrywide Europe Ltd In Liquidation

This company are now in liquidation, and we have been informed by the liquidators that thye company only had one bank account which is now negative, so the chances of anyone ever getting any money or any products are non existent.

The staff have continually lied and encouraged new customers, when they were aware of the situation last November.

The company director has a record of dissolving companies or putting them into liquidation.

Story from within the company is that the directors had a big bust up.

Wonder if there is any truth in the rumour that someone then emptied the company bank account before heading off. Might explain why the cupboard is bare. Is that criminal?

Don't Make Our Mistake - Avoid

I think enough has been said about this company in all the reviews below. We also made a sad mistake in selecting "Countrywide Group (Europe) Ltd". Please be advised to not do the same. Any decent search on the web about them for 5-10 minutes will explain why.

Please email me so we can become a real Group. CW pick off individual customers who complain and threaten legal action. This will be less easy if we are a group.

I've reported the major issues with Countrywide to Trading Standards (TS) but because they say no one else has reported problems with CW they will not investigate. I'm hoping other victims of CW will

1) each raise individual complaints with TS

2) each tell each others once they have complained to TS

3) we can then press TS to investigate CW on our behalf

Look in yellow pages or google to find your LOCAL TS office. They will take details of your complaint and then check with TS in CWs local TS office.

Please tell me by email [email protected], which local Trading Standards office you contacted

Hopeful Conclusion.

My husband spoke to Martijn Venema at Solarlux today as he was getting nowhere with Countrywide. He was told that the problem is that they will take no orders from Countrywide which involves finance. If you have entered into an agreement with Countrywide to pay a deposit and the rest in instalments you will be waiting forever for your glassroom. He said our order had been sitting on his desk for months.

Countrywide are at the moment advertising that if you order now you will not have to pay until 2013 but it looks as though you won't get your goods unless you pay cash on completion.

We have now agreed to nagate the contract and pay the full amount to Solarlux on completion and it has been given the go ahead. Hopefully things will now get moving.

I would advise you speak to Martijn Venema if you have entered a finance contract and pay cash if you can.

Having problems with the glass manufacturers........what a joke. Add that to all the other excuses........problems with the paint supplier, Christmas holidays, lorry ran out fuel, pirates have captured the ship.

Things may not go as smoothly as you anticipate, we were in the same situation in February 2012. Solarlux supply the aluminium frame and any tilting glass doors (they seem an excellent company but know more than they tell you) , not roof or other glass which still comes from Countrywide. We now have a "glassless" glass room and Countrywide say they are "having problems with the glass manufacturers"......may sound familiar. I am now at the point of claiming on the deposit insurance to try to get the work finished.

Countrywide Uk Ltd Voluntary Liquidation

I too have had the same experience with Countrywide. They have taken a deposit and the second payment from me and then went things went wrong with the erection of the glassroom the directors have refused to reply to any communication from me. I have lost a considerable amount of money and agree with other reviewers that all of us who have experienced the dishonesty of these people must stick together to try and make them accountable for their actions. These people have reinvented themselves with a slightly different name, Countrywide Europe Ltd instead of Countrywide UK Ltd, the same company directors, a different address and the same website. They must be stopped from trading as a matter of public interest as anyone looking at their website would not know there was a difference between these two companies.

I have lost my money but I do not want anyone else to be in the position I have been in since November last year. This loophole in the law must be closed as it is open to manipulation by unscrupulous company directors.

Someone is running an email address "complaint-countrywide". I have emailed them but no response. Anyone know how to create a forum where everyone who has had a bad experience can register their interest and everything can be collated?

Do Not Use This Company!

They took the deposit then sent us a letter saying they were going into administration and our deposit was non returnable. So much for the guarantee then. They then set up the next day as Countrywide Europe with all the same staff and offered to continue the job for the original price minus the deposit. Now they won't even respond to e mails or calls. I'm sure the money has gone though if anyone has been successful in getting anything out of them or the administrator, I'd welcome a heads up. Potential customers - be warned.

We should have had ours built in March. Then it was June, then July, We ordered our glass room in October and paid a substantial deposit.

Every time we ring we are given another excuse and last week we were told we would be getting a letter in the post which surprise surprise hasn't arrived.

Going to ring them again today to get the latest load of waffle.

Complaints-Countrywide

Our experience of Countrywide Ltd is similar to others of this site and we have got no where dealing directly with the company.

I have made a complaint to The Office of Trading Standards regarding http://www.countrywideltd.co.uk/ Countrywide Ltd (UK or Europe).

Trading Standards say ‘no one else has lodged a complaint against Countrywide’ and so there is nothing for them to investigate.

I want to begin a collective complaint against this company.

Alone we get nowhere. Indeed the MD of Countrywide picks us off with threats of litigation. United we may get somewhere.

Be Very Careful With This Firm

Although they try to hide the fact by using the same brandname, the firm currently trading as Countrywide (Europe) is legally different from Countrywide (UK) which went into liquidation in February 2011 owing suppliers over one and a half million pounds.By refusing to pay all those who extended credit to their old firm they showed little integrity and those thinking of placing business with them should beware of a similar disregard of future obligations.

Terrible Company - Don't Touch With A Bargepole

This is a terrible company with useless service. I suspect the last 2 reviews were written by the company.

In summary our complaints were:

• We had to chase up installation on a weekly basis after 8 weeks from order confirmation and despite promises of progress updates we did not get these without chasing.

• Delivery was continually promised as imminent during this time but never materialised until we continually put pressure on.

• Installation took 18 weeks from order confirmation not the 6-8 weeks promised i.e. 3 times the estimated time.

• None of the promises in their letter outlining the installation were met.

• The installation took 3 weeks not 3 days and delays took place because it was not continuous or done in the right order.

• Communication from Countrywide through the whole process was practically non-existent and we had to continually chase up every stage.

• The installation job was obviously not planned at all as exemplified by the fact that the base was not laid before installation, that the people needed for each phase were not available when needed.

• The base was still not level or even and I had to have it relevelled by our tiler before he tiled.

. They didn't do the electrical work that was included and I had to get that separately done.

Their advertisements promise a full one-stop service from planning to building works to completion and this is clearly not the case.

After not finishing properly they put pressure on us to pay. Whilst they gave us a small discount for the problems this did not compensate all the extra expense we have incurred.

However we have obviously been luckier than others in that they went into liquidation shortly after our completion so we did not lose any funds paid in advance. They have subsequently Phoenixed into Countrywide Europe with the same directors but will not honour guarantees and wanted to charge me £175 call out for the locks which have fallen off. The result is that we cannot lock our garden room.

They charge premium prices for a very inferior service - don't go near them or you will regret it.

Lucky you, 6 months after placing the order we are still waiting and no installation date!

Guest

You are quite right.

We paid Countrywide (UK) a deposit in January when they must have known that they planned to go into liquidation. They had already registered Countrywide (Europe) as a new company in September 2011 with the same director. When the old company ceased trading on 7 February they left suppliers and depositors in the red to the tune of £1.5 million and then sought to restart trading as Countrywide (Europe) with the same director and then the current MD, appointed a week later on 13 February.

Fortunately we paid our deposit by credit card. We refused to transfer our contract to the new firm and have recovered the deposit from the bank. But not before the MD and his friends had lied claiming that we had a contract with the new firm.

I have just received a letter from the MD enclosing an invoice for alleged costs incurred by Countrywide (Europe) -with whom we had no contract-and threatening to instigate proceedings if we do not pay their arbitrary demands.

Personally, I would be delighted if they sue because my solicitor tells me I have grounds to counter-sue for damages. I will then report the director (who has a trail of other firms which went into difficulties) and the MD to Companies House.
