No Long Term Support

We have spent a great deal of money with Coastline Windows of Newport Isle of Wight and were initially delighted with the work. Now, the guarantees having expired a few years ago, I phoned the Company to ask them to replace 3 panes in one sash window which are showing severe internal condensation. I had previously tried to get replacement brass handles for the windows as two window handles are showing severe rust, but was turned away by a very off hand receptionist. I expected my latest call to be received with more interest, but to my shock, I was advised that the Company no longer provides out of guarantee remedial work. So, despite the thousands of pounds spent and the many recommendations to friends, Coastline have zero interest in supporting their customers.

My advice to those seeking new double glazing is do not bother with Coastline as they have no interest in you except to take your cash. Find another Company that will provide long term support, even after the guarantee has expired, so that you only need to keep one telephone number, confident that workman will attend with background knowledge of your property and professional interest in you, the customer.

9 Months To Supply And Fit Front Door

Coastline Windows Newport Isle of Wight are not fit for service. Ordered front door + 2 side panels 21st July 2014. Told fitting would take place on 16th Sept 201. Received phone call on the 15th. Sept. 2014 to inform me that the side panels had not arrived, but in fact I discovered from the panel manufacturer that they had not been ordered until the 15th. Sept 2014. We were lied to by Coastline Windows as it was obvious that the panels were never ordered in the first place. ( why lie, just tell the customer the truth in the first place)

On fitting the door 2 bricks were damaged, the rubber seal of the door frame was damaged due to being drilled through, door would not shut or lock properly. We were fobbed off by being told that the door would settle in, I took that with a pinch of salt. When the side panels finally arrived after 3 weeks they were not as ordered and showed no privacy level at all.

After a lot of complaining and advising Trading Standards about the situation 2 new panels were ordered in a different pattern. When these arrived after another 3 weeks and fitted it was found that the door was in fact bowed. Another door was ordered and this was also bowed. I was offered another manufacturers door in the same design which I had no choice but to accept. This arrived and seems to be OK. but after research I found that the new door is cheaper than the original. Yet I have received the invoice today asking for the same price that was originally agreed. It has taken just short of 9 months to finally finish the job.

Customer service is zero. I have not received the original items that I ordered. Yet they still want me to pay the full price.

Conservatory Beware!!!

We engaged Coastline at the end of May to build us a conservatory.

We went with them due to their great feedback on check a trade and also because they said they would do the groundwork whilst we were on holiday the week commencing Sat 15th June.

When we returned from holiday next to no work had been done yet no one had called us while we were away to inform us of any delay. It was important that the work was completed whilst we were away as we have a small house and a 2 year old and a young baby so we wanted the noisy disruptive work to be done whilst we were out of the way as it is not nice with little babies and is stressful which I can do without!

On return from holiday our sofa had mud on it where the builders had sat down on it, there were muddy boot prints on the carpet and our toilet was stained where they had used it.

The builders then built the wall wrong, my husband looked out at it and didn't think it looked the right size, he was right it was the wrong size! The builders also managed to go through our sky cable, which was quickly rectified but again more stress as more workmen needed.

Once the brickwork was finished we were told the glazing was delayed as something was broken, the fitters turned up on the Tue fitted the upvc bit and the roof then said they wouldn't be back until Thu as the machine (glass making machine) was b*ggered!

Once everything was finally up, the floor was screeded and looked very neat, however the guy who did it didn't tell us how long we should leave it to dry but luckily we looked it up on reputable building websites and realised it needed to be left a long time!!!

When we finally got into our conservatory we realised the brickwork was extremely poor and that there were bits of damproof membrane sticking out from the floor and the brickwork was incredibly messy and the pointing very uneven, we had asked for a brickwork finish as we live in an old cottage which has lovely brickwork which we wanted to leave and not plaster over.

We contacted the owner of the business who agreed that the brickwork was poor and that they would re do the brickwork and also concrete down the sides of the conservatory to prevent weeds growing which had not been done by the other builders. The owner also agreed to put us up in a hotel for 2 nights as we have two small children and as it was their mistake they agreed we shouldn't have to face more disruption.

The builders arrived on 19th Aug and swiftly got to work smashing the old bricks down, my husband commented how quickly they'd managed to get the bricks down. Then we left them to get on with it to get away from the mess!

When we returned home about 930am on 21st Aug, my husband had to quickly unpack the car and dash to work, the conservatory fitters were still here although we had said we would be back early ish on the Wed as my husband had to work, no one had called us to tell us they would stil be here or we would have got my husband to drop me and the babies off at friends! So we had an unuseable downstairs, a stinking load of chemicals being used and I had screaming babies as they were having to be kept upstairs! Very stressful! They said they wouldn't be long so I stayed at home and yet they didn't leave for nearly another 3 hours!

Then before they left they wanted me to check the job they had done and were rushing me as they clearly wanted to get to another job, as I said I had had babies screaming at me all morning and was very distracted as it was the babies lunchtime so I said to the fitters it looked great but I would need to check it properly once my husband came home and if we notice anything we would contact coastline.

Well once I had swept the floor and then hoovered it I noticed cracks and holes in the screed floor from where the bricks had been smashed onto them. My husband called the owner, and was asked to email photos to him which we did and also said we weren't happy to pay our final balance and said we would pay half of it to make up for the hassle we had had and the fact that we had been left with a damaged floor

He then sent a very rude and patronising email saying we were looking for any excuse not to pay our final balance, that we should have mentioned the floor before, but the floor was fine when we left it on the Monday and was damaged whilst they rebuilt the wall which is why we hadn't mentioned it before, to say we were looking for a reason not to pay is so out of order, we paid everytime we were asked for an installment with no delay even though we had experienced so many problems my husband and I always pay what we owe! We just wanted the floor we had left on Mon, I only wish I had taken photos before we left on Mon so I could have proved it was the builders who had damaged the floor, he said the builders would have taken the brickwork down carefully "brick by brick, course by course" but we saw them just smashing it out with a hammer!! And they certainly weren't being careful! He said we clearly expected a polished concrete finish, which we didn't just not a cracked floor where there are still areas of damp proof membrane visible!

I emailed him back and told him to just take the money we owed as I just wanted an end to this hideous experience and told him we would be leaving feedback to reflect our experience as I would not want anyone else to go through the experience we have! He then emailed me back and accused me of blackmailing him, how is saying I will be leaving feedback blackmailing?! He pointed out that they as a company have 535 check a trade reviews and a score of 9.9, this is very true, however I could hardly see any reviews for conservatory construction, most reviews were for windows and a few for replacement conservatory bits eg roofs but not many for construction from start to finish.

He offered to send someone round to patch the floor up, this is not what it needs, it needs re screeding which my husband is going to do as we cannot face dealing with Coastline anymore.

We then emailed him to inform him that there was still a bag of rubbish left which they needed to collect, he said it wasn't theirs, I said it was left by the screed man, he still disputed this but then spoke to the screed man and finally agreed to collect it!

We have been in the garden and found a used teabag and left over damp proof membrane, hardly clean workmanship.

I am angry about the shoddy workmanship but mostly I am angry at how they have accused us of making up excuses to pay, of not being able to afford to pay (he said if we were having difficulties to contact him and he would arrange a payment plan!) and of being accused of being a blackmailer. We happily agreed to pay Coastline the quote they gave us and we have paid it even though we have been let down on various occassions and left with a shoddy floor. At no point have they offered to come and look at the floor, just said from looking at our photos that we are making up excuses, maybe my photos aren't good enough to show how bad the floor is!

Had This Company Come To Fit A New Conservatory Fo

Had this company come to fit a new conservatory for us last summer.

They did such a great job that we invited them back to replace our last few double glazed windows. Again, they exceeded our expectations.

If you're looking for a double glazing installer in East Sussex, look no further than Coastline Windows & Conservatories. At least let them give you one of their free quotes.

Lovely people, great products and at a right that is just perfect. Great job!
