Malfuctioning Uniview Cctv
I had a Uniview CCTV system installed at my house in February. It had been supplied by CCTVdirect and would be used on my Apple computers. The cameras and NVR have worked well, but the Uniview software needed to operate the system is seriously flawed. It causes my computers to overheat and the program is slow and frequently crashes when you need to view and analyse recorded footage. The software version came out in January this year, so they must have known the software was defective when the CCTV system was sold to me. In July, I was told by the company’s tech department there would be a software update coming out in the next month or two. This month, I’ve now been informed there is now no time scale for the software, which leaves me with a CCTV system on which all you can reliably do is view live footage. As far as I am am concerned, this system is not fit for purpose and with no time scale for a fix, I’ve asked for a refund. This has been refused by the Sales Director of CCTVdirect , who says they have no legal or moral responsibility towards me. Uniview are a Chinese company, and CCTVdirect are their sole supplier in the UK and provide technical support, so as far as far as I am concerned they represent Uniview in the UK and they do have a responsibility, a view not shared by the Sales Director. Nor does he feel that customers considering buying Uniview products for use on Apple computers and require the EZ station software, should be warned that they will not work at the moment, because of defective Uniview software. I think this view neatly sums up CCTVdirect’s attitude towards customer care and support.
Bad After Purchase Support And Customer Interest

Awful company to deal with, unempathetic, unprofessional and pull the wool over your eyes, the owner and the operations director do nothing to help at all.
I purchased a cobra elite R8 D1 34 months ago. They sent me a link to a software or firmware update, but it did not work, which I advised them off. Then then replied "I have been looking into the issue with your DVR. We think the problem with the 10 hour displaying at the top may be a bug. Unfortunately that DVR is no longer being supported with firmware updates and therefore we can ask them to make any more changes."
The technical manager then advised " Firmware development ended on that DVR after its successor (Cobra 960) went on sale in 2013", that's less than 12 month they stopped on future updates even though it has 2 year warranty on it as well.
It is ridiculous that they sell very expensive DVR's (mine cost £850 for an 8 camera DVR, maplins is just £250) and when they get a new one in they stop supporting all together.. no new firmware or software updates. I even asked them in 2012 why does the watermark feature not work and they advised me they would inform their developers. This never happened either.
They should inform buyers that when a new model comes in then support terminates on the one you have just bought, and updates stops immediately..
I have never known any computer company (and a DVR is technically and dedicated computer) that stops support on their other older units, like Dell, HP, Samsung etc.. for many years ahead.
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE UNWILLING TO HELP, THEY ARE UNSYMPATHETIC AND REALLY THEY ARE ONLY BOX SHIFTERS. THEIR SUPPORT STOPS WITHIN 12 MONTHS FROM MY EXPERIENCE.
GO TO SOMEWHERE LIKE MAPLINS AS CCTVDIRECT REALLY DO OVER CHARGE FOR A SIMPLE DVR SYSTEM. LIKE, 4 TIMES MORE EXPENSIVE.
YOU THINK OR FOULED INTO THINKING YOU ARE DEALING WITH A PROFESSIONAL COMPANY BUT REALLY YOU ARE NOT AS THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED IN GOOD CUSTOMER COMMUNICATION, FEEDBACK OR ISSUES BROUGHT TO THEIR ATTENTION, CERTAILY THE OWNER, MARK CLEARLY IS NOT. DON'T MAKE HIM ANY MLORE WEALTHY, THEY OVERCHARGE AND BAD AFTRE SERVIC AND NO UPDATES AND THEIR 'OLDER' UNITS....
Their are plenty of cheaper more professional companies out their, search around..
