HONDA IZY HRG 416 SK Petrol Lawn Mower

Found out from the Honda Factory today that The Honda Izzy has a known pulley issue that flexes too much and leaves the machine suceptable to the drive belt coming off. There is no recall or long term fix for this.

Feel I have been mis sold the machine as both Honda customer care / Garden Machinery Direct are wiping their hands of it.

Poor service and sales both from GMD & Honda.

Would suggest looking at different brands and retailer !!!

I am sure that a well known quality retailer John Lewis would have simply taken the machine back!

I bought my old Honda mower secondhand 27 years ago and never added oil or replaced blades. This one may well outlive me.

The engine is so easy to start. It is very quiet and vibration free and sounds a quality product.

The body is basic for the price but the lack of gimmicks means no bits of plastic to break and need replacing.

Being a Honda, the parts will be available for decades to come, but you probably will not need any.

The grass box is huge and the actual grass cutting is excellent with the wider wheels not making grooves and the plastic brush making a reasonable attermpt at stripes.

I looked at cheaper makes but they looked like five year mowers and felt heavy, especially the Chinese ones that try too hard and the engines sound tinny.

This doesn't mulch as such but in my experience mulching just means the grass on the lawn sticks to your shoes and ends up on the carpets. The mowers that mulsh often need fiddling with with extra blades etc. I can't be bothered.

If you like to go racing around the lawn then this isn't for you as it has no throttle or gears and it sort of finds its own speed. I assume this is the IZY bit.

I like good things that just work reliably and last.

This looks like being my summer garden workhorse for many years.

Great product, i have had for over 5 years now and still working, every year i have replaced the oil and put in a new air filter, i use about 3 times a week to cut mine/parent/parents in law. Last summer i was doing a friend a favour when he was on holiday, mowing his lawn. I used this mower, they have around 1 acre of land, with the little cutting deck on it it took about 2 hours and 2 tanks of fuel. Have used 3 times this year and have just replaced oil and air filter and finally has given up, has been coughing a lot and so on, so i think it is time to get the local dealer to service it properly, if it expensive to repair i will probably just by a new one.

Honda Izy 53 Mower is a fab product. Simple, starts easily. I think its better than any competition.

Powerful engine, easy to start. A good even cut. No problem for my 100 ft garden.

A good all round mower.

The Honda Izy 53 Auto Petrol Lawn Mower is a good mower, spoiled by a walking speed which is so slow it must have been designed for very overweight Americans (a US import). Said to be suitable for 2 tennis courts, but it would take all day to cut them.
