Flymo Electric Motors' Bearings Fall Apart.

Have had 2 Flymo electric mowers and in both the electric motors have failed and not with a great deal if use either.

The bearings broke up probably due to fine dust getting through the filters.

Of course Flymo didn't want to know about it as both machines were out of guarantee and several years old. The motors cost £60 to £70 so it isn't worth buying a replacement motor.

Pity really because it is such a waste to throw away so much plastic because of poor motor/filter design.

Just goes to show that one can't rely on a well know brand name when choosing a mower.

'Which' magazine give the new models a good write up but obviously haven't used them for several years to see how reliable the motors are.

What a waste of materials !!

I Bought My Compact Flymo Only In The Autumn Of 20

I bought my compact Flymo only in the Autumn of 2008, so in effect, it's only worked for 2 seasons. Have just gone to use it for the first time in 2011 and it's totally dead! (Yes, I've changed the fuse in the plug! which seems to be pretty much all you can do when there's no sign of life!). Propheticall, when I bought this 2 different neighbours warned - "I've had Flymos but they've only last 2 years" - I should have asked their advice BEFORE buying it!

Ok For The Money, But Not As Good As It Used To Be

OK for the money, but not as good as it used to be.

Bought one of these to replace a similar one that expired after 5 years of hard use (There is a non-orderable blade clutch that wears out after a while--it can be replaced with a bit of effort with a hammer to drive it off the motor shaft if you could get one--turning the abrasive blocks gave me another 6 months of use).

A bit disappointed with the replacement (Model 9633030-01). It's the same "type" as my previous one, but has been cheapened up a bit. The power cable is now hardwired, which makes replacing it with a longer one or after you cut it much harder (the previous had a standard plug at the mower end). The blade is also much softer metal and nicks easier.

Cuts OK on a small fiddly garden, dealt with long tough grass (several passes). But its not for big lawns or to get a really nice finish with fine grass.

I'm tempted to see if I can get a second hand one of the previous model to raid for parts and keep the new one as a standby.

Would Not Recommend A Flymo Micro Compact 300, Doe

Would not recommend a Flymo Micro Compact 300, does not cut low enough so having to go over the same bit of grass, makes it hard work and thats on on the lowest blade !!!!

Bought Flymo Micro Compact 300 Second Hand To Repl

Bought Flymo Micro Compact 300 second hand to replace a black and decker lawnmower. Bought a good mower well worth the money. Easy to use, incorporates a grassbox which is easy to empty and replacement parts are easily avaliable.

This Flymo Micro Compact 300 Is A Total Waste Of M

This Flymo Micro Compact 300 is a total waste of money. Got constantly clogged with clippings, and the space around the blades builds up with what can only be described as silage.Adjusting the height of the cut is a ridiculous job involving a spanner and spacing nuts. And for something that is supposed to be easy, after cutting a lawn with a Flymo you can feel the ache in your lower back that lets you know just how hard you have worked to control it.

The Flymo Micro Compact 300 Lawn Mower Cuts Well,

The Flymo Micro Compact 300 lawn mower cuts well, even when the grass is wet. I had my Compact 300 for about 10 years before it broke, so I'm now looking to replace it. I'm going to stick with like for like.

Had The Flymo Micro Compact 300 For 6 Years, Absol

Had the Flymo Micro Compact 300 for 6 years, absolutely no problems. The Flymo will eat even the heaviest grass - I don't mow as often as I should! Spares are no problem. Its a good low price mower.

I Have Visited Three Stores That Sell Flymo Mowers

I have visited three stores that sell Flymo mowers, none of them including the store I purchased the mower could offer me any advice on the new blade appart from write to flymo. It would seem they only want to sell mowers and when a new model is born no one wants to know about the older ones, or any problems you have with yours. Very Sad.
