Chain Oiler Fails

Works well and the engine is durable. It still starts and runs fine after 6 years. The worm drive for the chain oiler has been replaced 3 times and the oil pump once. I now need to replace the worm drive again. It is plastic and the thread strips in no time. It needs to be made out of metal to have the robustness required.

Basic Spares Impossible To Track Down

Bought this machine a few years ago and have had good service, I will add that YOU MUST keep the product serviced and clean, - I have worn out two guide bars and now cannot find anyone who stocks something as basic as a new 20" Guide bar for my 4450C. It now lives in its really nice protective plastic box, minus the guide bar, and is gathering dust in a dark part of my workshop. I will probably sell the perfectly good engine unit on eBay.

I am now looking for a new machine and will never buy another Ryobi product again as they clearly are not interested in long term relationships with users of their kit.

I am very dissappointed.

I would like to have been told by Ryobi that when you buy a chain saw with their name on it, that's it, you throw it away after the guide bar is worn out. Ridiculous!

Bought this from Bunnings after much consideration, leaked oil from day one first time i used it the chain tensioner failed and the chain fell off, then the oiler packed it in then the engine overheated, i had a cheap chinese talon that was more reliable than this its going back

A Disapointment

I bought this chainsaw from bunnings.

things I like:

quick start,powerfull engine,good barlength,case.

It was a real disapointment when it stoped punping oil to chain and found out that no one can fixed it because bunning is the only one that deals with ryobi and unless is less thasn 2 years old and you kept your receipt it becomes useless tool.

This Is The Third Ryobi Saw I Have Owned (the 1st

This is the third Ryobi saw I have owned (the 1st two - PCN 4545 - were replaced under warranty after the emergency brake began to bind permanently).

At first the RSC 4450 seems excellent (compared with PCN 4545) with a powerful motor which starts and runs well. However, after relatively little use, the chain oiler ceased to work. The worm-drive to the pump is PLASTIC and guaranteed to fail before much work is completed! If you have one of these saws then buy a number of these parts now to keep the saw running. It is at least a simple repair.

This is an otherwise good ship ruined for want of a bucket of tar. A metal worm-drive to the oil pump would have made this a very competent saw. As supplied it is not remotely in the same league as Ryobi electric tools.

Couldn't agree more the oil pump worm drive fails frequently and at a tenner a piece you'll soon have paid out more than the cost of the saw!

Had This Chainsaw For A Week, Read A Few Reviews W

Had this chainsaw for a week, read a few reviews which led me to buy one, the first time i used the chainsaw was for an hour, which i had problems starting it as it cut out, thinking now it was cos it was over heating, the second time i used it the chian was compleatly blunt, it gets in my veiw to hot and if it burns out chains as quick as this, id keep away from ryobi altogether,

looking at buying a mountfield, but for 200 pound theres not much on the market.

id never buy this brand again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
