Terrible Quality
PLease do NOT buy this bizarre exeriment of a chainsaw.
For a company dealing in aluminium castings [Ryobi] they
must have got drunk and made this as a cruel cruel joke.
The spindle on which the pullstring turns is made OUT OF PLASTIC.
The chain may as well be made out of plastic also.
If you have been given one one these [God forbid] the very best thing
to do is to take it outside and smash it up with a lump hammer before you even start. That way, you can save yourself the trouble and heartache of taking it apart and finding it is the equivalent of a cheap market fake.
Then, go and buy a real chainsaw from Stihl or equivalent.
I will NEVER buy Ryobi equipment again.

Bought This Chainsaw A Fortnight Ago, The Recoil S
Bought this chainsaw a fortnight ago, the recoil starter went within a week, returned to shop, the second one suffered the same problem within a day, going to get a refund and look for a more reliable model. The saw itself was fine and did its work well whilst running.

I Bought This Saw For £139 And It Is Excelle
I bought this saw for £139 and it is excellent value for the money, starting is faultless if you follow the instructions, the chain is still sharp after 30 hours of use and is of good quality, it uses very little fuel for the work it does and it came in a good quality case, the only fault i found is the fuel pick up can move around in the tank and cause starvation at some angles when cutting, i find this saw to be a tough reliable tool that does what it should do when used in a safe manner.

I Bought This Chainsaw As It Appeared To Be A Good
I bought this chainsaw as it appeared to be a good value mid-range product with plenty of features usually found on more expensive items, however the first one lastest 3 days before the pull start mechanism jammed and had to be returned to the store. I was given a new saw without any hassle and this one lasted a whole month before going the same way as the first, so back to the shop for another exchange. The third one went the same way as the other 2 after 10 months (and only 4 uses) pull start mechanism jammed again so this time got a credit note and bought a different make. When it was working it was ok, but reliability was a major problem.

This Is The Topend Ryobi End Chainsaw With A Rrp O
This is the topend Ryobi end chainsaw with a rrp of £199 and to be honest the chainsaw is fine, however the chains are rubbish, they last no time at all and at £18 for a replacement this chainsaw is not good if you have anything more than occassional needs or hours on end to sharpen the chains.
I found this review very helpful because...I bought an RCS4040CA chainsaw from COSTCO back in July and I'm beginning to have the same problems. The chain regularly needs sharpening _ if put to good use. I now need a new chain, spark plug and air filter and am experiencing difficulty in finding these spare parts. Where can I find them .... and also, where can I find a proper servicing manual.
I found this review not helpful because...the chain fitted to ryobi machines is a workdwide highly regards brand- namely Oregon. Lots of factors affect the performance and life of any chain on any chainsaw, and premature dulling is normally due to the way the saw is used, insufficient lubrication, material being cut, adjustment, and poor maintenance. The chain on this machine is not different in terms of quality and performance than a chain fitted to more professional, dearer models.
It certainly is nothing to do with the quality of the chain
Q&A
I cannot undo the locking handle on my chain saw. Please please could you help? I unfortunately turned the handle to lock after I finished and for the life of me I cant turn it back to unlock it. Thank you.
