Horrible Chainsaw

Wife got me this chainsaw for Christmas. Took it out of the box, put it together, fueled it, added bar oil, then started it. It ran for about 5 seconds and then sputtered out. I did get it fired up, cut a few small limbs (whi9ch it bogged down on simple 3-4 inch limbs. Once it got warmed up, it died again. It wouldn't start again. I gave it a cool down time and tried again. It started, but it will not stay running at idle. I had to keep idle high to keep it running and feathering the throttle. I tried cutting with it, it died again, and would not start again. I wouldn't reccomend this chainsaw even to my worst enemy. Will not run at idle. Bogs down on light loads. Hard to start. Chain comes loose easily. Horrible chainsaw.

Works Fine For Me.

My girlfriend bought me a Poulan2150 about 15 years ago and it still runs great. I was a poor college student then and had been wanting a chainsaw, so she got me the inexpensive Poulan which was fine.

It still runs great, I even placed a 18" bar on it and it still does great. I mainly use it to buck up lodgepole pine for firewood and a good sharp chain zips right through.

I just bought the Poulan 3416 as a back up and for any friends that may be tagging along that could help.

The 3416 started right up and runs fine. If I have big trees to fell, I have a much bigger saw for that, but for an inexpensive saw it is just fine. Sorry others have had rotten luck with theirs.

Will Not Start - Junk!

No matter how hard I try, the damned saw will not start! I've done everything the operator's manual says (too many steps to start it) to do to include replacing the fuel with fresh fuel. I've been using chain saws for over 40 years and I assure you, the Poulan Pro PPB3416 is junk. Walmart would be wise to stop selling it! I am tried to pulling my guts out, pulling the starter cord -- which often locks up while pulling the cord. If anyone wants more details or needs to understand how upset I am about this worthless saw, comment.

My Wife Did Me A "favor" And Bought Me A Poulan. N

My wife did me a "favor" and bought me a Poulan. Never could use it. Would not, even new, start. It was a waste of money and waste of time. Poulan means "Pull on, again and again and again"! Awful saws. Don't buy one. Can't use a saw that will not start!

My Saw Is The Pp3416. I've Yet To See A Ppb3416.

My saw is the PP3416. I've yet to see a PPB3416.

Anyway, You have to give this saw a break-in period. At 1st you'll notice that STARTING the 3416 is a little trickey, but, if you are an old hand with tempormental Chainsaws you'll figure it out. 2nd; the Trigger to Acceleration is a little slow. Don't worry, these two situations will disappear after a dozen trees have been cut up.

I've worked various chainsaws for many years, and found that this Poulan Saw will do its job as fast as you'll let it. The price of a saw does not compensate for an inexperinced operator. They all react the same under identical situations. The best thing an operator can do is not get into those situations. So, be patient, learn the do's and don'ts and this saw will perform with the best.

i actually have the poulan pro ppb3416 and it does its job really well, considering that it's not a stihl or husqvarna. i mainly cut fire wood for outside bon fires and i go through a lot of wood. depending on the size of the tree im felling i fluxuate between a 14 and 18in bar and chain. it says its made for occasional use so i run it hours at a time trying to burn it up so i can buy a stihl farm boss but the thing just wont stop. my only valid issue is that when i run full throttle it will shut off but one pull of the cord gets me going again. oh yeah for some people that have trouble starting the poulan ppb3416, there is a diagram that showes the steps to take y'all should try it it really works

Poulan Pp4218avx Inexpesive Is It's Only Good Poin

Poulan PP4218AVX inexpesive is it's only good point. Poorly designed recoil starter breaks more than works. Automatic oiler drips all the time. I've had mine for about a year and have only been able to use it two times. Poulan charges you for help. Can't even use it for a boat anchor (not heavy enough and the oil keeps dripping out of the chain oiler)45 years experience with chainsaws.

i cut a lot of wood in the winter to sell.this year i was in walmart and decided to purchase it.and all i have to say is if you cant start it you dont know what you are doing if it gets hung its not the saw its the operator i would rather carry the pp3416 thru the woods than my very heavy stihl that is infact hard to start the only down fall is it does bog down alittle but u can expect that a little from a 34cc motor i have had no maint prob out of it and i have cut about 100 ricks of wood with it

Bought My Poulan Ppb3416 At Canadian Tire. Always

Bought my Poulan PPB3416 at Canadian Tire. Always fires up right away and have taken many trees/branches and never had any trouble with it. Just like any other equipment, if maintained and used properly, it works great.

I Ended Up Using The Handsaw Instead Of The Poulan

I ended up using the handsaw instead of the Poulan 3416 16, I am a female and thought it was a great buy. The first time my son used it and after many starter times it finaly was runing long enough to do the job. the second time i did not get to started at all and started to scream. the thirt time i used it started but the chain came off as soon as i started eventhough i know how to keep the chain on. anyhow. i am frustrated and i have 17 trees to care for . My friend came over and he cliped the trees faster with a sheer that i was able to start the saw. What a great friend i have. :)
