Husqvarna 460--short Lived

The Husqvarna 460 Rancher started out great. Great power and performance. But it burned out after only four months of use. Husqvarna would not honor the factory warranty. I thought it should have lasted much longer for $500. My other chain saws have lasted five plus years. I guess I will keep using them and send the Husqvarna Rancher to the dump. Too bad.

I Am A Homeowner And I Have A Recertified Husqvarn

I am a homeowner and I have a recertified Husqvarna 460 that I purchased from the manufacturer after a severe windstorm took down huge trees in my yard. I am very happy with the saw. The saw works fine. I have two extra chains that I rotate on it and keep it very sharp. I cut "camp wood" with it occasionally. The saw works flawlessly and leaves piles of long shavings in it's wake.

Nice Saw For The Money... But

A former Stihl 024 owner, I bought my first Husky back in the 1980s because they came out with a quieter saw, the easy start decompress button and anti-vibration handles. That Husky 55 lasted 25 years of cutting firewood - 5 to 10 cords per year - and I still have it for backup. My 2 year old Husky 460 stopped oiling 2nd time out and after 3 dealer repairs it's still not right. I thought the 24" bar would be nice so I wouldn't have to bend over so far to cut (I'm older now and my back is tired...) BUT, the heavier 460 is kicking my butt. If I were to buy a new homeowner firewood saw today, I would spend my $449 on a lighter one with a 20" bar and horsepower equal to the Husky 460.

Cutting Made Easy

Broke down and spent some money on the Husqvarna chainsaw after reading some reviews. I used it to trim some branches and take down a few small trees in the yard. No problems.

Virgin Chain Saw Consumer

I had a tree company drop 2 85ft silver maple trees that hung over my home. I was responsable for the clean up. The 460 rancher with 24in bar is my first saw. I have used sthal and polan. The 460 has a large amount of power. It had no problem powering through the 42in trunk. One pull start off the shelf. Minimal fuel usage. It does seem to use alot of bar oil even on the second setting. I am concerned about the compression relief button. It seems to be just another thing to malfunction. Easy to access air filter. The side mounted slack adjuster really impressed me. Over all this saw seems to be well built and dummy proof.

My Wife Got Me The 460 For My Birthday And I Love

My wife got me the 460 for my birthday and I love it. I have put it through a lot, being from the backwoods of northern Ontario it has seen some rough demand, but this saw has served me very well. It is reliable and robust and good quality for the price. Even in the harshess of Canadian winters it remains a solid product for what I need.

Picked This Saw Up After Burning Up A Lesser Saw.

Picked this saw up after burning up a lesser saw. I only use saws a few times a month, but I make mostly large difficult cuts and rip large logs. Runs great and smooth. Starts easily with the purge and the two choke positions actually work well and I rarely need to tighten the chain. I have a 24" bar and a carbide chain and have no fears of plunging into any wood. Not the most torque of any saw i have used but the comfort and balance more than make up for it. I simply asked my favorite store who carries all major brands what I should be using for the type of work I do and this saw was 200 bucks less than the comparable saw from Echo and Stihl. It is considered a mid level saw but the only difference from it and the Stihl is the durability of the plastic housing is stronger on the Sthil or so my service guy of many many years told me.

First Off, I Love This Saw. After Burning My Way T

First off, I love this saw. After burning my way through a fair share of chainsaws, I settled on the 460 after a local tree company recommended-they bought for a quick replacement when there pro saws were at down. I use this saw for clearing and firewood for 2 months- been through about 6 cords, and it has performed very well. Compared to the XP saws, it has less power to weight, however, for the price it is very well-powered. The reviewer prior complaining of the saw for his 24-36" logs, cutting 15 cords+ bought the wrong saw, and those he mentioned were $700+++. With an 18" bar this thing rips, and seldom bogs unless really digging in the dogs. I have had no issues with the oiler. Opened it up 2 more clicks, and slight adjustment on the carb, and this thing just wont quit. No vibration to my hands. Excellent.

I Bought A Husqvarna 460 In Sept 2007. The Saw Has

I BOUGHT A HUSQVARNA 460 IN SEPT 2007. THE SAW HAS HELD UP OK EXCEPT FOR OILER ISSUES.IT HAS BROKE ONE OILER, WHICH WAS REPLACED, NOW THE NEW ONE IS NOT WORKING. THESE ARE OK SAWS FOR THE GUY WHO CUTS 3-4 CORDS A YEAR. I AM CUTTING 10-15 CORDS OF PINE, DOUG FIR, AND TAMARACK MUCH OF IT 25-34 INCHES ACROSS THE STUMP. THE HUSQVARNA 460 DOES NOT HAVE THE HORSEPOWER FOR THIS TYPE OF WORK.OOVERALL ITS AN OK SAW,IVE HAD NO HUGE ISSUES, BUT WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH MORE SATISFIED WITH THE 357XP OR THE 372 XP.

Have Run Husky Products For A Long Time. Had A 55

Have run Husky products for a long time. Had a 55 and it gave up ghost so I purchased a 460 to replace. It has more power through entire power band and will easily run a 24" bar. Have cut 3 cords of wood so far and am very pleased. If you are having problems starting the saw READ THE DIRECTIONS. Simply put push gas bulb, push compression release, pull choke and pull cord. When engine sputters push in choke and pull rope DO NOT hit the throttle. Have run Stihls and this is every bit as good for half the price of a comperable Stihl GREAT SAW.
