Douwe Egberts Medium Roast

Some troubled times for everybody right now but when a brand of coffee, I have used for around 20 years (in Europe), suddenly decides to inflate prices to extortionate amounts, it is time to simply boycott and swap to a cheaper brand. It is just instant coffee in a fancy container after all, it is not caviar! Almost £10 for a large jar now!? You have to be kidding. You can bet all the workers on those plantations are not seeing any benefit of these absurd recent price hikes too. Goodbye douwe-egberts, nice coffee... but hey not that good.

Being a Dutchman and having lived in Holland the first 20 years of my life, this was the coffee I grew up on. In Holland percolators are the most common way for people to enjoy coffee at home and this coffee lends itself excellently for that purpose. In cafetieres it is OK, but there's better coffee's out there for use in a cafetiere.

Taste is bold, well balanced and great for everyday coffee. Perhaps not the best, but a good and affordable solution for a lot of occasions and for that reason recommended!
