Moroccan Giant Couscous Is My Favourite Of The Veg
Moroccan Giant Couscous is my favourite of the Veg Pots from Innocent.
Innocent Veg Pots are pitched as exceptionally healthy microwaveable meals for one containing three of your five recommended portions of fruit and/or veg a day. They come in a variety of flavours.
This one is meant to be like a tagine and while you would have to stretch your imagination pretty hard to think it was an authentic one, for a convenience lunch it's not bad. The main tastes you'll get are the couscous and chickpeas, coriander and the slightly tomato-y sauce.
Four minutes in the microwave keeps it nice and crisp but if you like your couscous soggy then you can blast it for an extra two and mash it all up.I know someone who does this why is beyond me as it all becomes a bit like soup.
This is the official list of ingredients from their site: tomatoes, water, chickpeas, cannellini beans, carrot, tomato pur e, aubergine, giant couscous (6%) [durum wheat semolina, water], butternut squash (5%), onion, potato, vegetable oil, harissa paste [red pepper, olive oil, red chilli, garlic, white wine vinegar, coriander, chilli powder], cornflour, spices, apricot, raisins, garlic, fresh coriander (0.5%), mint, coconut sugar, lemon juice, sea salt, cumin seeds, herbs.
Like all Innocent products it's not cheap so if you are looking for a bargain snack this is not it but they do make you feel smug when you have had one for lunch and unless you have a massive appetite they usually see you through the afternoon. So you will save cash on the chocolate run.
