My Partner And I Tried Aunt Bessie's Chicken Pie A

My partner and I tried Aunt Bessie's Chicken Pie and also the Steak Pie. In the chicken pie we only had 4 bits of chicken and the steak pie had even less. One piece per half. We were very disappointed and want to know where to complain to. No wonder Tescos were doing buy one get one free. I would have been even more disappointed if I had paid full price for two.

A bit shocked by the low scores here, I found the Aunt Bessie's pie to have a good hearty content, maybe the brand have become to big and are now scrimping on portions as they have established themselves as a major player in the frozen foods market

Aunt Bessie's surname is probably Tweedy!

Having Used Aunt Bessie's Products In The Past I D

Having used Aunt Bessie's products in the past I decided to try her Chicken Pie made with Golden Shortcrust Pastry. It sounds nice (if only). After cooking from frozen for 55 minutes at gas mark 6, I took the pie out to check it; checking the bottom, but as I lifted the pie from the tray the bottom fell out. It fell over me, the cooker and floor. When it came to serving the pie, I found the pie looked nothing like the box picture, and the pastry was smooth and hard to cut. Including what was lost, I'd say there were 7 pieces of chicken, plus gravy which had shredded chicken in it.

The pastry crust was dry and tasteless. The base actually tasted a bit better because it wasn't dry. The chicken was tasteless as well as soggy. The gravy was heavy and light brown in colour, complete with shredded chicken. Its taste was artificial and was considered of poor quality.

To sum up. Aunt Bessies do wonderful Yorkies, and lousy Chicken Pies. I can't recommend this pie to anyone. A Chicken Pie should have quality chicken in it, but this one had value chicken in it .
