Nestle Kit Kat Chunky Bar

Had my first Kit Kat chunky in yonks and what a disappointment although it tasted the same if not a tad sweeter if the chocolate had been spread on any thinner it would have been transparent. I remember one chocolate bar from the past going exactly the same way (one a day used to help you work rest n play) ha ha not any more

This is one of my favourite chocolate bars, so it's only fair I do a review on it. Did you know that over 47 Kit Kats are eaten per second in the UK! This shows just how popular this bar is even today.

The Kit Kat was first introduced in London in 1935 and in those days was known as 'Rowntrees Chocolate Crisp'. This name was dropped two years later in favor of 'Kit Kat Chocolate Crisp' and then after the 2nd World War, became just 'Kit Kat'. Due to its huge popularity in the UK, the Kit Kat is now available in several varieties: Original (milk chocolate), Mint, Orange, White Chocolate and Caramel to name but a few. According to the Nestlé website, there have also been a number of Limited Editions in recent years.

The idea behind the Kit Kat is very simple: long wafer biscuits are covered in smooth milk chocolate to create a bar which is approximately 9cm in length and 1cm deep. Each Kit Kat is made up of either two or four chocolate fingers and these are wrapped in a shiny foil wrapper, with a red and white paper wrapper over the top.

Despite its minimalistic design, the Kit kat wrapper still has an endearing and timeless quality - one which appeals to people of all ages. The first thing you notice when you remove the Kit Kat from its delicate foil wrapper is the sweet smell of Nestlé milk chocolate. It seems slightly more creamy than Cadbury milk chocolate, but it is the sweetness which comes through most strongly.

So what about taste...? As soon as you bite into the thin outer chocolate layer, your teeth immediately sink into the crunchy wafer biscuit within. This is sweet and tasty, although its flavor is masked somewhat by the taste of milk chocolate. If you look closely at the layers of wafer, you'll see that they are separated by a brown, sugary paste. This is what gives the wafer its sweet, moreish quality. I like Kit Kats for their contrast in textures and, in particular, the contrast between the soft, creamy milk chocolate and the hard, crunchy wafer biscuit. You don't always find this with other chocolate bars.

Nutrition-wise, each bar (2 fingers) provides you with 106 calories, 1.2g of protein, 13.0g of carbohydrate, 5.5g of fat and 0.2g of fibre. According to the Nestlé website, all Kit Kat varieties are suitable for vegetarians, but this isn't clearly stated on the wrapper.

Chocolate is very popular in our household, as it is in most... but the new kid on the block is the Kit Kat Chunky Bar.

I personally don't really have that much of a sweet tooth, but my wife certainly does.

However, i'm really enjoying this one. How to describe it? Well, without being funny, it's really chunky!!! lol

My problem with chocolate is that it can get quite sickly after a while... i don't get that with this bar. It's certainly filling, but doesn't leave that "eurrghhh, i've eaten too much chocolate" feeling.

i absolutely love the chocolate chunky bar, it is just to die for. i eat 2-3 per week, i don't drink coffee and it provides me with energy to wake and study, since i'm a university student. Love It!

When it comes to chocolate you can't go wrong with choosing a KitKat. I've loved the rather simple idea of covering a wafer with chocolate.

Pros:

1.) Simple to eat

2.) Delecious

3.) Small snack

Cons:

1.) Like all chocolate it doesn't help with the workout

Overall:

This is one of my favorite types of chocolate and most certainly a classic in the chocolate world.

These are lovely and i could eat them everyday but would end up going up another 2 dress sizes.

They are very filling and give you a chocolate fix.

kit kat CHUNKY.

Love them, just bring back the old wrapping. You can't slit the foil anymore! That was why they were so good, because you could run your thumb down them and you'd open them!!

I ADORE the CREAMY taste of the Nestle Kit Kat Chunky Bar! It is so delicious! I love how it's like a wafer; it just brings it all together!
