Single Malt Scotch Whiskey tends to be bland in the U.S. First tasted as a gift from Scotland, Macallan became my Scotch of choice. It has a woody, sweet taste with a relatively smooth flavor.

Macallan is a modestly priced Scotch. I'd get the 12 year old bottle which has been consistantly excellent tasting. It is a sipping Scotch, not to be wasted by those that down a shot in one gulp. Drink this Scotch Whiskey straight to appreciate the complex taste. Save the soda or water for blended Scotch.
