Swanson TC134 16" Pro Combination Square

While the Swanson combo squares are accurate for sure - they are NOT durable. I am now on my 5th 6", 3rd 12" and 3rd 16". The locking mechanism wears out and or breaks (especially on the 6") in very little time. This seems to be due to the fact that the lock/groove is ground square instead of rounded or angled (ie starrett's design). So - if you don't mind replacing every 3 months or so - they are accurate and low priced, but don't expect to last very long.

It compares with some of the better brands at 1/5 the price. I love the 6" model. Fit and finish is very good. With a bit of tuning, It is top notch.Way better than other competitors.

I have several squares from all price ranges and Swanson gives you a lot for your money. The parts are a bit better than competitors. It is dead square.

I love this Swanson TC134 16" Pro Combination Square and use it a lot! I have the 6" version too and find this duo a much better arrangement than just having a single 12" combination square. I use the 6" for wood joints mainly and occasionally as a depth gauge; being small enough to fit into some quite tight spaces. The 16" (on review here) is much better for square and mitre lines on larger wood sections and boards where I would normally have used the 12" before (one made of aluminium, another of steel and both have since "passed away" - I forget the brands). They are accurate and easy to use. Clear, bright and easy to read scales make mis-reads less likely, reducing; wastage, time and costs, while increasing accuracy, and promoting a better work flow.
