Golden Beach, Thassos, Greece

The resort of Golden Beach on the Greek Island of Thassos is a wonderful place to stay for a relaxing holiday.The sand is soft and it shelves gently into the lovely blue sea. The surrounding mountainous scenery is quite stunning.It is still a traditional Greek resort but is gradually becoming a little more commercialised since we first visited in 2001. There are few shops and low key bars but where it does score is the wonderful selection of taverns. We could recommend Sotiris, Federas and Finikas all of which are excellent value for money.No fast food outlets here all more authentic Greek Cuisine. There is only one hole in the wall cash machine which is about 2 miles away on the outskirts of Skala Potomais. There is an irregular daily bus service about 6 times a day into the capital of Thassos Town. Golden Beach is a primarily a place for couples wanting a sedate beach holiday,
