I am extremely disappointed in David Lloyd Club full stop. Spent over 10 years in Virgin Active and their word was their bond. BUYERS BEWARE of DL Clubs - They will tell you anything to sign you up and then change their minds if you don't get the agreement in writing.
1. They promised 12 guest passes for the appalling treatment the first day I went to collect my pass when the person I dealt with accused me of collecting the free heart rate monitor when I told him this was my first time of attending the club and hadn't received one. They found out that I was right, the manager called me and promised me the passes on the phone but never put it in writing and when I challenged it when I didn't receive the passes, he said he never promised the passes.
2. Upon joining the club before it opened, the sales person told me that my membership fee will remain the same for the life of my membership because I was joining way before the club opened, they gave me an introductory rate which I now know wasn't really introductory at £135 per month and said this rate will remain the same through the life of the membership as long as I didn't cancel my membership

3. My subscription rate just increased this Jan19 to £143, I called to ask what had happened and why my fees had increased when I was promised that I will maintain the same membership fee as long as I didn't cancel - there was no one available to handle my query, I was told someone will contact me....she  did not call and hasn't called as I write this review, neither did any of her colleagues. I called DL back today and spoke to someone who is clueless and tells me that Head office had increased the subscriptions because of inflation, She didn't ask for my name nor my membership number, didn't acknowledge what I told her about the verbal agreement at the point of sale, she advised that she doesnt work in Sales and all she knows is that Head office has increased fees . There was no acknowledgement of the complaints or understanding of the conversation i was having with her. She said someone else would call me back and I had to ask if she knew who was speaking to her, at that point she asked for my name, she didn't take my mobile number so I am not holding my breath that I will receive a phone call from DL

4. I am so disappointed that a club that claims to be a high end club can have a strategy of so much dishonestly, lack of customer care, no ethics and will do whatever it takes to get people on board their club. It sickens me that people are allowed to get away with things like this

Potential members, please beware, if you care about being treated fairly, then think twice before joining......
