“Absolutely fine”

Written on: 15/11/2012

I attended the Pareto Assessment Day yesterday - although I was almost a no-show after reading these reviews!

On the whole the experience was fine. There were moments that were slightly cringe (greatest achievement, everyone constantly shaking hands and appearing sociable), but it wasn't significantly worse than other assessment days I've attended previously. The assessors are generally quite young, but it only seems to be much older graduates who get offended by this, I personally don't see why being interviewed by people your own age is so bad- it'll happen plenty of times in later life.

Sure, compared to a professional services assessment day (Barclays, Eversheds, etc) it was very informal, but Sales is based on quickly building rapport and appearing personible.

The format described by the below reviewers is still accurate (group exercises, presentation, etc), so I have little to add there.

I was successful, but it's obviously early days so I can't comment on their efficiency in generating interviews. However, if like me, you are considering sacking it off based on the below comments, I'd just go and try it. At worst you lose a day's holiday, at best a gateway to job interviews. Decent trade-off in my opinion.
