“a wonderful experience”

Written on: 29/03/2015 by thea.lyngseth (1 review written)

I am so glad i decided to volunteer in Vietnam and do it through Plan my Gap Year. I was there for four months in Hanoi and honestly had the most amazing time, the staff, the other volunteers made volunteering and living in Hanoi better than i ever expected. I wish I could have stayed longer so I could have volunteered more and felt I had made more of a change at the volunteering place. Also to get to know the culture more and the staff. The food, the atmosphere and the vietnamese people are… Read Full Review

“Take me back!”

Written on: 26/03/2015 by Lauracoleman (1 review written)

Sri Lanka was without a doubt one of the best decisions I have ever made. I am 23 and have a full time job as well as a volunteer role in England and I needed something different. I travelled to Sri Lanka for three weeks on my own not really knowing what to expect and I had the trip of a life time! I made some amazing friends and memories and I'm sitting here typing this wishing I could go back right now! I worked on the elephant project which was so interesting - I came from waking up and… Read Full Review

“My time in Delhi...”

Written on: 21/03/2015 by Katep425 (1 review written)

I had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this programme. The handbook we had before was extremely helpful and informative, giving a comprehensive list of our kitlist. I chose to purchase the 'essentials' bag, including the PGMY t shirt - it is useful, however I would not recommend this if you are staying in Delhi during the colder months as I was (Jan, Feb), as the majority of items are unnecessary for the climate. Vishy and Kranti are very welcoming and friendly - I felt welcome as… Read Full Review

I'm also considering going there over January and was wondering how the weather was. I've read a wide range regarding the averages then. Was it cold enough to need a winter coat on average or as someone not used to the extremely hot months in India was carrying a light jacket enough?

“My time in Sri Lanka...”

Written on: 06/03/2015 by Clarkkm487 (1 review written)

You won't regret choosing Plan My Gap Year, I certainly didn't. Before my departure they were very quick to respond to any questions I had and brilliant in organising every detail of the trip. This helped to ease any worries I had prior to going out. While away the Sri Lanka Plan My Gap Year team were incredible, I cannot think of a single fault. They are always looking to make each volunteers experience perfect. Ash is one is the friendliest people you'll meet and he makes sure that if you… Read Full Review

“PMGY Sri Lanka 2015”

Written on: 01/03/2015 by JaelynnPritchard (1 review written)

What an experience! Volunteering in Sri Lanka was by far the best thing I have done. To be immersed into a culture so different from your own is incredible. When I first landed at Colombo I was so excited to just sink my teeth in and get started and you pretty much get a glimpse on the drive to Ambalangoda. Arriving at Ashikas and meeting Thamari and Ranji was amazing, the welcome was so open and warm. They are amazing people, so generous and polite to let complete strangers into there house… Read Full Review

“Best experience ever!!!”

Written on: 28/02/2015 by Nathaniel240 (1 review written)

I have never really been travelling by myself and therefore I was so nervous going on this trip to Asia but I really didn't have anything to be worried about! I went to Sri Lanka with PMGY and helped with the turtle project, the UK team answered all my concerns before I went and I had a great experience there. The Sri Lankan people out there are really friendly and I found it a very sociable experience. Ashika and the team were lovely, Tamari makes everyone feel at home and is a great cook! “India PMGY Review”

Written on: 24/02/2015 by CobyPerez (1 review written)

I stayed in Delhi on the medical programme. The hosts were very helpful and welcoming, and the accommodation was good - good facilities and friendly atmosphere. The food served at the house was also amazing - very healthy and reasonably varied - and not too spicy which is a plus, especially when catering for large numbers of people and varied tastes! I liked how the placement varied reasonably often, so you had the chance to see a range of different things, and move if you didn't like a… Read Full Review

“Fantastic experience - if you move out of your comfort...”

Written on: 17/02/2015 by sallyhaywood (1 review written)

My volunteering was in a school in Hanoi, Vietnam in February 2015. I was much older than most of the volunteers - 56 - although there were other older people at times. The "youngsters" were totally welcoming and friendly from the outset and I can't recall feel that level of inclusivity in a long time. While I drew the line at clubbing until 5am and getting up to teach the next day, I chatted, played games, had a laugh, went for a drink and loved the karaoke. The teaching itself was a great… Read Full Review

“Take me back to Ghana!”

Written on: 02/02/2015 by x_claire (1 review written)

I went to volunteer in Ghana in July 2014. Basically, it was the best experience of my life! I volunteered at Kumasi Children's Home. The children were adorable. I loved spending time playing with the children, helping them get ready for school and feeding and cuddling the little babies. I spent a lot of time with the disabled boys. I'll never forget the day me and some of the other volunteers had races with them. Just to see them laugh and smile for a few moments of my time was such a good… Read Full Review

“Best time of my life!”

Written on: 20/01/2015 by HarrisonMcWilliams (1 review written)

I traveled to Nong Khai, Thailand this last June-July with PMGY and to say it was amazing is an understatement. PMGY was so helpful in organizing and preparing me for the trip. I felt like I got top notch personalized service all the way from America. It was hands down the MOST AMAZING experience of my life. Not only did I make amazing friends for life with the other volunteers, I fell in love with Thailand, too. The people are amazing, the kids are perfect, the weather is great, basically… Read Full Review

“The most unbelievably amazing time of my life! (India...”

Written on: 14/01/2015 by stephaniesmith (1 review written)

I arrived home from India just over two and a half weeks ago after the best spent, most rewarding and thoroughly enjoyed 12 weeks of my life, and I cannot fault the time I spent out there! My PMGY adventure begins back here in England. I can only praise the PMGY team! They were absolutely FANTASTIC in answering any question or any concern I had. Their responses were quick, but most importantly, extremely informative. The handbook was my Bible - guiding me through my visa applications and… Read Full Review

“PMGY-Ghana”

Written on: 11/01/2015 by harrietdavies (1 review written)

Over summer, I spent 2 weeks volunteering in Ghana with PMGY on the orphanage programme. It was honestly the best thing I have ever done! It is absolutely amazing. Before I left for Ghana, I had contacted two other volunteers who were travelling to Ghana on the same day as me, and we ended up meeting at Heathrow Airport and seating next to each other on the plane. PMGY had created a Facebook group, which allowed all the volunteers to ask questions and find other people who would be out in Ghana… Read Full Review

“Best 3 months of my life!”

Written on: 11/01/2015 by Larsen336 (1 review written)

It all starts with the PMGY team, who are brilliant! Any questions and worries i had were quickly answered and i was reassured. I was lucky enough to meet a man in SL as well and it was a total pleasure and was great to meet more of the PMGY team! I stayed with Ashika, the Sri Lankan PMGY co-orinator and his family, and i couldn't of felt more at home. I can safely say i now genuinely have a second family, who really made my experience as brilliant as it was. The projects are fantastic, and… Read Full Review

“Duanne Monastery, Nepal”

Written on: 03/01/2015 by DuanneDebs (1 review written)

I visited a Buddhist Monastery near Chitwan in Nepal in November 2015. It was a life changing and extraordinary experience. The pre departure support from Plan My Gap Year was excellent and any questions I had were answered quickly and completely. The handbook was extremely informative and was invaluable to me while I was in Nepal. I was picked up at the airport and stayed at Kathmandu in the co ordinator's house. Although I only met him briefly I was looked after well by his wife and… Read Full Review

Written on: 03/01/2015 by ashikasrilanka (1 review written)

Volunteering in Africa was always a dream and I decided to fulfill this dream in 2014 by participating two week volunteering project in Kumasi, Ghana. Personally I’m a Country director for volunteer programs in Sri Lanka and have hosted and participate in a bunch of volunteering programs together with hundreds of international volunteers. But, Volunteering in Ghana is one of a best experience I had in my life. I had no issues with immigration but they are really keen about your yellow fever… Read Full Review

“Pmgy Sri lanka - simply the best”

Written on: 30/12/2014 by Keyon450 (1 review written)

o I have volunteered with PMGY before and glad I spent ages trying to find a decent volunteer company as this is my favourite so far. Prices are what they should be and one of the lowest I have found. They are always friendly and incredibly helpful. I have emailed and phoned them so many times and they always reply quickly and in detail. If your a first time traveller the volunteer handbook is filled with all the information you need as well (maybe to put parents at ease ;)). The… Read Full Review

“Ghana 2014 - Amazing! ”

Written on: 20/12/2014 by FatimaColeman303 (1 review written)

I can honestly say that this volunteering experience has been the best experience of my life. I went to Ghana with PMGY and expecting so much that was proved wrong from day one, in ways more good than bad. I made so many great friends that will last me a lifetime, and although it was sad to see so many of them leave during my stay, I'm great full for their impact in my life, each and every one of them taught me so much not only about life, but about myself. I have learnt so much its… Read Full Review

Having travelled and volunteered in vietnam for the past 7 weeks the only words that come to mind are incredible, amazing, life changing and exciting. Deciding to volunteer overseas is something in which I have always wanted to do but didn't really know where to start. Plan my Gap year made all of this happen and totally hassle free at the same time. I did a lot of research into different companies and what they offer and the price they charge by far they are the cheapest, friendliest and most… Read Full Review

I have had an incredible time in Sri Lanka and would recommend it to anyone who wants to do voluntary work. The Senevirathna family are so welcoming and I loved feeling like I was in a home away from home. The projects are so fulfilling and the kids are fantastic. PMGY Sri Lanka has given me the chance to meet all kinds of people and make lots of new friends. I would have no hesitation in returning to Sri Lanka as I have had a wonderful chance to travel as well as volunteer. I look forward to… Read Full Review

The Childcare project in Rabat is outstanding, it provides you with the opportunity to work with a range of children, with different needs, and working with individuals with additional needs. The skills and knowledge that are required to work in such field is gained through working alongside the Trained Professionals. It is important to use your own initiative and be open to new learning experiences. Rabat is a great center point for volunteers, it allows you to see the culture of the… Read Full Review
